Beef and Veggie Stir-Fry, Daniel’s Way

Tonight my 13 year old wanted to prepare stir-fry; it was my turn to be sous chef.  Yesterday at the store, he picked out all of the ingredients (with my approval of course, lol).  And, here we go!

1 pound sirloin tip steak, popped into freezer for 15 minutes, then thinly sliced against the grain

one dozen baby carrots, julienne sliced

one small zucchini, sliced into coins, then halved

one sweet yellow pepper, julienne sliced

one sweet orange pepper julienne sliced

one 8 ounce package of Portobello mushrooms, sliced

one 8 ounce package of snow pea pods

8 ounces of spaghetti noodles, cooked and rinsed in COLD water

Teriyaki sauce, maybe 1/3 cup total

Canola oil, maybe 1/4 cup total

Take your sirloin steak, place in small bowl and top with Teriyaki sauce, stir and let marinate for about 10 minutes.

Heat about four tablespoons of canola oil in large wok; once oil is hot but not steaming yet, add meat a few pieces at a time.  Stir around until meat is totally browned.  Remove using slotted spoon and place in clean bowl.

Chef Daniel

Add another couple of tablespoons of canola oil to what’s already in the wok; add snow pea pods and mushrooms.  Gently stir around for about four minutes; add remaining veggies and stir for another four minutes.

Add meat and another few shakes of Teriyaki sauce and canola oil; add spaghetti.  Gently stir until mixed well.

He can’t even wait for his dad to sit down!

Oh and you have to eat with REAL chop sticks!  I had no idea that we had any in the house, but Daniel found three sets, so we all used them.  It was pretty funny!  At one point I used my fingers to put a huge mushroom on my chopsticks – Ron saw me and laughed but Daniel didn’t see it.

Here is the before picture:

That kid still has his chop sticks in there, ready to attack the meal!

And, here is the AFTER:

Not much left! It was delish!
