One of the issues I’ve been dealing with is helping my husband stay hydrated.  Water gets boring.  Yes, he likes milk and he also likes iced tea and coffee.  Iced tea and coffee in small doses are okay, but the caffeine dehydrates a person.

Recently, we skipped town overnight to celebrate his birthday.  In the hotel lobby as we were checking in, we found a large container of iced water with strawberries floating in it.  Yum!  Well, I got to thinking that maybe if I could add fruit to water here at home, he’d drink it.

Here’s my first experiment in making strawberry limeade.

1 pint strawberries

1 lime

1/2 cup sugar

1 gallon water

Clean tops off of the strawberries and pop them (save about eight) into a 1-gallon pitcher.  Squeeze the lime juice into the pitcher and then squeeze the strawberry juice into the pitcher, then drop in the strawberries that you just squeezed.  Add sugar; you may like less than 1/2 cup or you may want more.

Stir well and pop into fridge.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
