What a busy day. We had the FUN-4-ALL at church today; hubby and I helped out from 11 am until 12:30 pm, selling tickets for the BBQ chicken dinner. Then we had to eat! Hubby got a hamburger and hot dog and chips and Diet Coke, and I had two tamales and an orange snow cone. Daniel had eaten earlier (a hot dog and lemonade). It was nice and thankfully the rain stopped! They didn’t have the huge bouncey-games outdoors though, I guess the rain early on made them decide not to do them this year. Last year it rained. This year it rained up until the time Mass started. We were doing really well with the chicken dinners, hubby counted over $500 cash taken-in when we left.
Then we came home and napped. Well, it was HARD WORK selling tickets!
Dinner tonight was a ham steak, mashed sweet potatoes (out of a box, yeah yeah, I cheated and they weren’t as good as the real ones would have been but I was tired LOL) and corn. I had a bite of ham, maybe a teaspoon of potatoes and a couple kernels of corn. And then a handful of bing cherries.
I’ve been eating a LOT of fruit lately and the only thing wrong is that I’m not getting in enough protein. Bleah! I’m so tired of protein drinks.
Tomorrow I am going to call the realtor and we’re going to look over some houses for my mom! Yippee!
Wow, was yesterday a LONGGGGGGGGGGGG DAY!
I thought we’d never get to Columbia – and once we were there it was fine, but then – back into the car again to get home. Four hours in the car, three hours “ON LAND” and then four more hours in the car again makes for a long day and a grumpy me. I will NEVER do that again, it was too hard.
Anyways, enough griping LOL
The nurse and doctor gave me an excellent report – nurse said I was doing PERFECTLY! I do need to increase my calcium and work a bit harder on my protein, but other than that, she and the doc were very happy with my progress. I am very happy.
Today is D’s last day for Vacation Bible School. He wants to go to the pool – I have permission to SWIM again and take baths so I can get in – but today he has Bible School. Tomorrow I am planning on housekeeping duties, so maybe Sunday? It’s supposed to get up to 99 degrees on Sunday, so that will be a PERFECT day to hop into the pool.
Tomorrow we have to get up at the crack of dawn – or more like, BEFORE the crack of dawn and get on the road by 5:30 to make it to Columbia for my doctor appointment – my one month checkup. I think I’ll take my shower and wash my hair tonight and hit the bed by 8:00 in order to get up in time and make it out the door.
Today Daniel woke up and wanted to go to my mom’s house; so we went over after breakfast. Stayed there until it was time to go to Vacation Bible Study. He’s still favoring his left arm. I told him that if he doesn’t stop, it will stiffen up on him worse and then he’ll need physical therapy to get it moving strongly again. Helped with snack at Vacation Bible Study: we made Purple Cows and served them with Goldfish crackers. I’ve never made a Purple Cow before LOL They looked pretty good: ice cream with grape pop and a cherry on top.
Giving Stripey his medicine has been, so far, pretty easy. Daniel holds him for me and tips him backwards and helps open his mouth, so that I can get the dropper in. I hope he gets well quickly, that sneezing has me worried.
Okay, off to see what’s new in the rest of the world.
Is this really Tuesday? Okay. I guess it is.
Daniel crashed his bike again yesterday (he did it a week ago Sunday, too) and sprained his arm. The doc didn’t put it into a sling or cast or anything, just said that we should ice it yesterday and keep it warm today. Daniel sure has been complaining; I bet it hurts really badly. He’s sitting in front of the television right now with it wrapped up with the heating pad (on low).
I am craving MORE of that yummy Greek Yogurt that I had the other day but the health food store doesn’t open until 9:30 and then I’m not sure she’ll have any to sell. I will call her and ask her to order some.
Stripey is SNEEZING. Not sure what’s up with that, but since he’s so young, we are taking him to the vet as a precaution. Don’t want him to get a respiratory infection.
Vacation Bible School started yesterday; we got out of the doc’s office just in time to get Daniel there at 1:00. It lasts all week.
Thursday is our day to get to Columbia for my 1-month visit.
I want Greek yogurt!
I’m at the local library again. I have a ton of things to do today. I’ve already gone to Mass and typed up the minutes from our Region II General Meeting (which was March 13, so I’m slow LOL). I have to go by the church office and make copies so that I can mail them out this week. Next I have to go to pay my car tags for the next year. Then I have a haircut appointment at 1:00 and then a doctor’s appointment at 2:00 (annual exam, oh joy!). At home, I’m trying to catch up on laundry so that I don’t have to worry about it next week. I did three loads yesterday. And of course, there will be more when I get home.
And I’ve checked out a couple of stacks of books from the library so that I have plenty of reading material next week since I won’t be driving myself all over town. My dh and I had that discussion last night. My mom is going to have to step out of her comfort zone and pick up my son from school until I am able to drive, which could be two weeks. And dh has to take him to school for those days, too. We are concerned that my mom may wimp out on us…..but as he stated, she has an obligation to help out since she’s family. That’s what family does. We help her out a lot so she needs to not wimp out and be helpful.
It’s rather gloomy outdoors, but that’s alright. It might rain. Oh well.
Off to my Friends’ Page for a short visit, then off to my errands!
EIGHT DAYS to go! I am ready to leave right NOW!
Anyway, I’m at the town’s library. This morning has been really busy. My friend Marilyn and I delivered posters for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Blood Drive on March 17. Then we delivered a news release that she typed up…delivered that to the local paper. Then I ran over to the school to sort out the prizes that the children won for taking part in our American Diabetes Association School Walk for Diabetes. Then I went to lunch (yummy, Cajun food!) and now I’m here.
I have to search for some books….have to remember how to type the author’s last name….her genre is Amish, her name is Bruschetter, I think….anyway since I’m here I can search the shelves and the computer.
Last night we went over to Pulaskifield for the Lenten services (for the Sacrament of Reconciliation) and then they served dinner, so I didn’t have to cook! The only thing is, I had a roast in the oven….so we will have it tonight.
Tomorrow is my appointment in Springfield to have my epidural/injections for my neck problem. I am sort of nervous. My left eye was twitching last night while I was thinking about it. We have to be there by 9:00 am, so we have to leave here around 7:30 am since we will have to deal with traffic. Boo!
Anyway, I’m sort of nervous. I need to pray about it, that will help.
Okay, off to check out my Friends’ Page.
Maybe I’ll BBL?
Would you believe me if I told you that my dh FIBBED to me when he told me that everything was ALL CLEAR on Monday night at 10:00 pm?
Barry and Lawrence Counties were in tornado warnings ALL NIGHT until 5:00 am. We could have blown away! I was very upset, needless to say. He didn’t apologize, just said that at 10:00 pm, he was too tired to stay up and listen to anymore reports. WHAT?!? If he had called me out of bed, I would have stayed up and listened or better yet, taken my child and gone to sleep in the basement.
This morning I heard on the radio that the National Weather Service has determined so far that a total of 22 tornadoes zipped through the Ozarks. My lovely dh told me that he found out that one hit 1/4 mile from our home. Driving ds to school on Wednesday, I saw where it hit, plus we discovered a dead cow (with its head detached and missing its skin). EEEEWWWW!
I hate living in tornado alley! And this was a freaking January storm, just wait until spring when they are SUPPOSED to be coming around.
Okay, onto better and not to gross and scary stuff………….I’ve been busy preparing for a funeral dinner on Sunday. Our PCCW meeting was supposed to have been on the night of the tornadoes. Monday is the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive at our church. Since it’s at our church, we are in charge of cookies, and since we didn’t have our meeting, I had to call ladies to see who would work and would bring cookies. Let’s see, what else have I been doing? OH, this past Wednesday, I went to a meeting at church to learn how to be a Eucharistic Minister (one who gives out Communion).
So it has been a busy week and next week promises to be as busy although God willing there will be NO tornadoes.
It’s Wednesday. Definitely Wednesday.
We had Chinese last night. I was craving pork fried rice and it was so good. Also had a bowl of wonton soup. They make it so good – better than the other Chinese restaurant in town which only puts in about four wontons; this restaurant we went to last night puts in about five wontons and TONS of veggies and some meat, too. Although my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant is in Springfield, nobody makes wonton soup like, they put in TONS of meat and veggies.
Tomorrow is a big day for my ds: he gets to read the petitions at church! He practiced last night. He stumbled over the word PRAYER. I need to call about getting his speech evaluation and getting him started on speech again…poor kid. He admitted the other day that he doesn’t like when people misunderstand him.
Okay, I’m back…just called the school district and they have completed testing (when I wonder?) and have an IEP Meeting scheduled for November 27 at 10 am! I need to call dh and have him meet me there.
I’m doing laundry today. Have finally finished folding my huge basket of unders and am now washing sheets from all the beds. I swear that the sheets and pillowcases multiply around here.
I need to buy a laundry basket and get some of ds’s old clothes to a friend of ours; they foster children and are in the process of adopting their third, a boy. They have had him since the beginning of the spring. He’s 3 and he’s so cute. They have another 3-year old and an 8-year old and two in high school. ALL BOYS! What a wonderful family they are. I ran into the dad yesterday and asked if they would take the clothing and he said sure. So I’ll run to the store on my way to pick up ds and grab a laundry basket.
My mom invited me to lunch yesterday and we both had fried chicken. And she’s invited me over today for carnitas and refried beans and fresh (!) homemade (!) tortillas! I better be careful NOT to eat too much, I don’t want to gain back any of the 12 pounds that I’ve lost………….
Okay, off to Amity Mama to see how things are with the rest of my world.
Maybe I’ll BBL?
I woke up this morning feeling like a truck hit me. It started in the shower (slightly dizzy) and got worse when I brushed my teeth (very nauseated).
I had to go back to bed for a couple of hours and am just now feeling better. Wow. My dh wondered if my blood sugar was off but I didn’t check it, I was too dizzy and had to lay down. I wonder if something was wrong?
After I slept a couple hours, I woke up and ate something little, then took my sugar and it was 153. It’s supposed to be 150 two hours after eating…I hadn’t waited for two hours, though…maybe 45 minutes. I’m confused.
All I know is that it was pretty miserable for a while and I’m glad to be feeling better.
My turkey is in the oven. I had my dh help me pull its guts out and get it ready. It will be done around 3:00. We’re going to church tonight at 4:00 since I have to work at the Fall Feast tomorrow from 9:00 until 11:00. Neither dh or ds want to come eat turkey and ham, but I’ll eat before I come home. Yummy!
I’m doing laundry. Again! My dh is in his workshop and ds is watching tv. His team had their last soccer game today and I missed it…they lost 1-0. My dh said it was a really good game.
Okay, that’s it for me.
My ds is home from school today. Nope, he’s not sick, it’s a Holy Day – All Saints Day. I would have hoped to sleep late on a day with no school but nope, we didn’t get to. My podiatrist appointment was at 8:15 this morning and then I had an appointment for lab work at 9:00 so I was up and out of bed at 6:00. At least ds got to sleep until 7:00.
The good news is that I don’t have to see the podiatrist again! He’s very happy with the way my toe has healed. He said it would be gunky and leaky for about another month but then should be fine. I’m actually wearing SHOES again, thank goodness, because it’s gotten rather chilly!
And the lab tech at Dr. P’s office didn’t terrorize my veins this morning! I was quite concerned when I went in and almost grabbed Penny, Dr. P’s nurse and asked her to do the poking…but thankfully I didn’t need to. She took a LOT of blood…I lost count of the vials. There were big ones and little ones.
Then we came home from running around and I crashed on the couch. For two hours! Nap time is nice!
Tonight ds has soccer practice, we have to have supper and then he has basketball evaluations. He’s never played team basketball and is so excited about it. We didn’t sign him up at the local YMCA because I’ve heard from others that the coaches only play the really good players, and this is through Upward Bound, which is, from what I’ve been told, an excellent program.
Tomorrow I have to stop at the store for those disposable roasting pans to bake my ham and turkey in (for the Fall Feast on Sunday). Then I have to bake the ham on Friday and the turkey on Saturday. I need my dh to carve them up for me into the roasting pans after they’re baked.
Last night, Trick or Treating was good…my child came home and counted his candy: almost 200 pieces! He did very well and I have no idea how he’s going to EAT all that stuff without rotting his teeth! I cheated and had a PAYDAY candy bar, it was a miniature…me bad! Oh it was so good!
Okay, off to play around…
