Trick or treat!
Smell my feet!
Give me something good to eat!
We used to say that when I was a little girl…taught it to Daniel this week. Hopefully he won’t say it tonight while he’s trick or treating, ha ha.
So this morning I dropped him off at school with his costume in a bag; he carried in his ninja sword. His teacher took the sword and put it in the classroom closet because she was concerned it would be played with. Hmmm, she’s pretty smart, ha ha!
I dropped off the cooler with juice and ice, too, so I don’t have to worry about it later; I pick up the cupcake cake at 1:30. That should give me enough time to get to school before 2:00 when the party officially starts. The children will get to dress in their costumes and then parade around the playground – then they’ll go to their classrooms. Our 3rd graders will get cupcakes, juice and a treat bag. Daniel wanted me to buy pop instead of juice but I refused. They’ll have enough sugar as it is.
I’m in my cat shirt with my leopard print headband. The shirt came out pretty cute. I used a bowl to trace around with chalk for her head and a lid to one of my pans for her body…drew triangles for ears…used white paint to trace the chalk for her head, body, ears and tail…green eyes…a pink heart-shaped nose and a little pink mouth…all I need to do is FRIZZ my hair and I’m ready to be a hairball.
I’m meeting D at 9:30 to pick up turkeys and hams and a few other supplies for the Fall Feast. I’m baking a ham, a turkey and a pie. And will be working from 9:00 until 11:00 on Sunday. I do not miss being president of the PCCW and having to be there all day long…I mean, it was exciting to be such a big part of church and to be involved is good, but it was so much WORK and such an awesome responsibility. And my family needs me. It took me away from them too much and my dh was upset about it a few times. Now he reminds me if and when I am doing too much…he and my ds need me at home.
…like you needed to hear from me again tonight? ha ha!
My dh explained to me that because our computer is so OLD, it’s messed up and thinks that last night was the Daylight Savings time change. It’s hell getting old, isn’t it? ha ha! We need a new computer. We also need a new television. Humph! I doubt we get either unless one or the other totally dies.
We had a good dinner. NOT fried chicken. I just wasn’t in the mood to destroy my kitchen and make a mess tonight. I am a very messy cook! So, we had spaghetti instead. Not messy, just simple and quick and delicious. Thank you, spaghetti sauce in a jar!
Tomorrow we (me and D, yes, the one that drops gravy on my toe) are delivering posters for our Fall Feast, which is next Sunday (November 4) at church. We will serve turkey and ham, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and green beans, homemade rolls and bread, homemade pies and cakes – all for $7 adult or $3 child 12 and under, preschoolers eat free. We do it every year, it’s our Parish Council of Catholic Women’s main fundraiser.
Also when we are delivering those posters around town, she and I will deliver the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood-drive posters…our next drive is November 5. This coming January will mark three years that I’ve been volunteering with them. Last December, my “boss” and local coordinator, M, and I went to the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon in Springfield and we both received plaques in appreciation of our work. It was pretty exciting.
I’m almost done with the laundry that I had been messing around with earlier. There are two basketsful that need hanging up…bleh! I hate that part!
Okay, off to do some more playing around.
Okay, I’m totally lost. My computer clock says it’s 2:29 but my kitchen clock and bedroom clocks say it’s 3:39. When does Daylight Savings start? I always thought it was the last weekend of October but obviously my computer thinks that it’s THIS weekend. I called my mom and she told me her girlfriend in KCK called her to remind her to change her clock last night – so mom called my dh and he said not to do it until next weekend. We went to church at the regular time and nobody was late…what is going on?!?
Anyway, back to my world…I’m doing laundry and need to fry some chicken wings for dinner. We’ll have them and smashed potatoes with gravy and a veggie. Daniel is at the skating rink…Ron took him and they were supposed to meet a friend there for a belated birthday celebration. Last week was L’s party but Daniel was sick.
My toe is feeling much better, thank you very much. Although on Friday, while preparing for a funeral dinner at church, my friend D dropped a container of gravy on it, ha ha! It hurt (of course) but I made out like it hurt really really bad and made D feel awful, I love teasing her, it was so funny. All day long (we were there from 10:00 am until around 1:30 pm) whenever I knew she was looking at me, I would limp and moan, ha ha! I’m so terrible. Of course at the end of the day I told her it was fine and that she was worried over nothing, then we looked down at my toe and saw that it bled through the bandage and then she got all upset again! It’s been gooping ever since but not too badly…I go see the podiatrist on Thursday and will make sure and tell him about the “gravy incident” ha ha!
OH for Halloween, guess what I’m going to do? My hair is naturally curly and it frizzes like crazy unless I put mousse in it…remember a while back my dh told me I looked like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket? WELL, the other night I was brushing my hair before bed and played around a bit and had an idea! I’m going to wear a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants and FRIZZ my hair all over the place and go to Daniel’s school as a HAIRBALL! I might get some of that puffy paint and draw a kitty face on my sweatshirt…
I’ve ordered cupcakes for the party at school this Wednesday and purchased some juice packs and napkins, too. I’ll call one of the moms and ask her to make some goody bags – she told me on Saturday that she wanted to help. The children get to dress up and then parade around the playground, then come in for their treats. It should be fun!
Okay, off to check laundry.
Where have I been?
Well, my son was home sick on Thursday and Friday. He’s finally better and was able to go to the soccer field yesterday for Picture Day and Event Day. They were supposed to have team pics taken, then individual pics. Afterwards, have different events, keep score and then award ribbons and prizes. BUT for some reason there were no ribbons or prizes! He was a bit disappointed, and so were we.
Yesterday afternoon we had our special Mass with the Bishop in attendance, plus the blessing of our new Parish Hall. I was not involved in the dinner…usually I am there helping with everything but this time, I had to say no. It was my turn to be MARY. I’ve been MARTHA for years and yesterday was my turn to sit and listen to Father Daniel and Bishop John. The meal was wonderful, one of our parishioners donated a half a beef and we had roast, real mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, homemade jello salads and rolls. Oh yes and of course, cake and punch.
This morning, the guys are planting saplings in our yard…I’ve got laundry in the washer and dinner tonight will be my pasta and Italian sausage.
Ta-ta for now!
I haven’t been online since Friday…my husband was on-call this weekend and tied up the computer line most of yesterday. Today I’ve been so busy, this is the first chance I’ve had to get down here.
Saturday was Daniel’s first soccer game and they won 4-1! Yay for them!
The rest of my day was spent in bed. I had woken up with a headache and stomach ache. After resting in bed for a couple of hours, I made supper (hotdogs, baked beans, pickles and chips) but barely ate. The only thing I really wanted was a package of breadsticks and peanutbutter.
Sunday the headache and stomach ache are gone, thankfully. Daniel and I went to church (hubby couldn’t go, he was on-call) and then we grabbed a burger for lunch. Once we came home, I had some laundry to catch up on (since I didn’t do any yesterday). Dinner was good tonight: baked chicken, cheesy scalloped potatoes and mixed veggies.
My brother called right after dinner – perfect timing! His younger daughter is making her Confirmation on November 4. His oldest daughter graduates from high school on June 8. If money were no object, I’d love to go for both *sigh*
Now Ron has run to the video store to return a movie he rented last night. I can hear Daniel upstairs singing to himself *grin*
Okay, time for me to hop around and check the rest of my email and then visit Facebook.
Yesterday was a busy day! At first there was the psych eval (also known as The Inquisition, haha!) and then the Fun 4 All at church.
The Inquisition was long and, well, it was long. It did last about four hours and it was at times, a challenge. We had the interview part first. The doctor asked me about the actual weight loss surgery and how much I knew about it. Ha, surprised him, I told him everything I knew – he said, “You’ve done your research, haven’t you?” and I have! Then we went onto my personal history (bleh!). Once that part was over we went onto the cognitive testing and the personality testing. I have no idea why they want to know how intelligent I am…do they refuse surgery on people who don’t know the meaning of the word “panacea”? The personality test was the MMPI, the one I took in Arkansas. Boring! Anyhow, he said that everything was going to be transcribed and sent off to Dr. D in Columbia and then we’ll just wait some more.
The Fun 4 All at church got rained out. But we had a nice crowd come in for the chicken dinner! Too bad the children’s activities outdoors were rained out. They had a beer garden outdoors and it was gettiing some people. Not me, of course, but I did see people out there.
I used my cpap machine again last night. I haven’t been using it for a few nights because my allergies have been so nasty, and it’s hard to breathe with the cpap machine and blow my nose at the same time. But yesterday my nose seemed to have cleared up, so I used it, yippee. Sometime during the night, though, I woke up and the mask was sitting on my chest, haha, I have no idea why or when I took it off…of course I put it back on, though.
Dinner tonight is fajitas. The meat is marinating. Ron is cutting the grass, it’s gotten very tall with all the rain we’ve been having. Daniel is playing with a remote control truck he purchased yesterday at the Fun 4 All.
Okay, off to the laundry room again. Again! I’ve already folded one load, there’s one in the dryer, one in the washer and I have another to put in after that…..sheesh!
Hasta la vista, baby!
Tomorrow I go in for my psych eval. I wonder if it will be boring or if it will be interesting……we’ll see.
After the psych eval is over, I’ll be working at our church’s Fun 4 All from 3:30 until 5:00, serving BBQ chicken, baked beans and cole slaw. Which means, I’ll be on my feet for 90 minutes, bleh! I’ve told dh and ds they can meet me there at 5:00 and we can eat BBQ chicken. At the store today I bought stuff for making fajitas so if they don’t want to eat at the Fun 4 All, I can go home and we’ll have them.
Ok, that’s it for now.
We have survived another week!
I just ordered Daniel’s Halloween costume, it’s so cool, he’s going to love it. Want to see it? Here you go, click here!
Daniel complains that he never gets mail from the mailman or packages from the UPS man, so he ought to enjoy getting this box. We should receive it within ten days.
Yesterday was a Region 2 meeting in Aurora. Our afternoon speaker said that we need to become more than “Sunday Christians” and I’ve really been thinking about that. How often do we – or do I – share Christ with others? It needs to be more than just on Sundays. How can I share Christ with others throught my days? Wow, lots to think about.
I went grocery shopping this morning and did really well and didn’t buy any “extras” or anything we didn’t need. Now my stomach is telling me that it’s getting close to lunch time, so I better run……..
See you later!
Adios for now,
Today I dropped Daniel off at school, had some oatmeal at the Family Restaurant and then skedaddled over to the library to type up the minutes of the Region 2 Board Meeting that we had August 23rd (I’m just a little slow LOL). Also, I had to write up a THANK YOU to the ladies for everything they did to make our salad luncheon successful. Then I went to the church office to copy them off (I will give them out tomorrow at our Region 2 Meeting).
FINALLY, then I came home!
There is a load of laundry in the washer and I have to sort through Daniel’s clothes to wash more when that first load gets out.
OH and I called the Bariatric Center…they STILL don’t have their Center of Excellence stamp! But the lady I spoke with said that my file is in perfect order, they have everything they need and are just waiting to be able to send it in to Medicare. They told us on August 18th that they were HOPING to get their approval from the government “at any time” whatever that means. WELL, what it means to me and a whole bunch of other people is “have a nice wait, we’ll let you know when we get to you”! Darned government paperwork! I just want to get in there and find out IF and WHEN I can meet the doctor and have surgery…
Adios for now!
It was a rainy morning yesterday – I was so worried that people would stay away because of the weather. But wouldn’t you know that God made the rain go away around 11 am and it didn’t rain again until around 2 pm?!?
Wow! God is GOOD!
