Wow, it’s been a rough few days. On Thursday, my blood sugar skyrocketed because I ate a slice of banana nut bread and then on Friday, I splattered spaghetti sauce on my right hand and burnt it…then yesterday I was a grump and today I was worse. Not sure what’s going on, but I wish it would STOP.
Fixed dinner tonight for the family but Ron wasn’t hungry. He had some Ensure earlier and I reminded him to have another one after he drank some iced tea. Made a new recipe tonight: took a recipe out of a magazine and fixed it to something I knew they would like. Daniel and the girl next door liked them and so did I. I call them Pizza Joes…they’re like Sloppy Joes but with a pizza twist:
Patty’s Pizza Joes
Brown 1 pound of hamburger
Add some chopped onion (to your family’s taste)
Add a minced garlic clove
Add 1 cup of pizza sauce
Simmer for about 10 minutes
Toast 4-5 hamburger buns
I opened a hamburger bun on each plate, topped each half with a scoop of hamburger and then sprinkled mozzarella cheese on top. It got nice and melty. Yum!
Along with the Pizza Joes, I made tater tots and had some chips. Easy and delish.
Tomorrow I’ve got a chiropractor’s appointment at 9:30 and then a lunch at 11:30 with some friends about the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive that’s coming up.
Jeepers, I hope that tomorrow is a less grumpy day than these past few ones have been!
Wow, what a busy day this has been.
Woke up early and delivered posters for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive next week. Then we went to the library downtown and I typed up a news release for the blood drive and emailed that to the local newspaper. Afterwards, went to the bank and got money out for the week and ran to Walmart and then to Subway for lunch. Then went to my mom’s so that Daniel could mow her yard. That took four hours (it should have only taken maybe two). After that, I needed to go pee in a cup at the doctor’s office because I thought I had a bladder infection or UTI. Well, that came back clear so I must have a yeast infection – so back to Walmart and finally home. We (Daniel and I) ordered a delivery pizza since Ron is working late again. We ate downstairs – a treat, since we never do that! and watched MTV (believe it or not), a show about “16 and Pregnant” which brought up a LOT of discussion with my 10-year old (I’m NOT ready for this, but obviously he’s curious, so I must be ready LOL).
Now I’ve loaded the dishwasher and am drinking cranberry juice again even though I don’t have a bladder infection or a UTI. It just tastes good! It’s low sugar, low carb, from Ocean Spray and it doesn’t make me dump or make me jittery. It just tastes good! And believe me, to find a JUICE that is low sugar, low carb that doesn’t make me dump or act jittery is a Very Good Thing!
I’m going to have to see if Walmart sells it in small bottles so I can take them to work.
Oh and even though it’s not even 7:00 p.m., I’m in my jammies and wearing my pink fuzzy slippers.
Tonight I’m going to bed early!
Tomorrow is going to be a BUSY day at work. We’re having one of our librarians come over for a Reptile party of sorts. Roxanne loves reptiles, no-legged ones and legged ones alike. She’s bringing some with her and then she will discuss them with the children (both groups, young ones and the teens) and then they’ll do a writing exercise. Sounds like it’s going to be great!
Ta ta for now!
The good news is that it’s Saturday afternoon and I’m home from work.
The bad news is that my husband is feeling sick again. He was up during the night and early this morning, poor guy. Right now, he’s napping. He told me to not worry about fixing him any dinner, so Daniel and I plan to go out and have some dinner and then go to a movie.
Oh and it’s raining.
The dishwasher is running, the washing machine is finished and waiting for the dryer to buzz so that I can take out its load and toss it into the dryer. There’s another load upstairs needing to come down and into the washing machine….
I wonder where Daniel will want to go for dinner. Last night he wanted Chinese food but since my mom joined us, we couldn’t go for Chinese. Wonder if he’ll want it tonight?
Monday, Daniel is off school and I’ve got a CBOC blood drive, so he’ll spend the day with my mom.
I hope to be able to go spinning on Monday afternoon at 5:30, it depends on Mother Nature, she’s baaaaaaaack and she’s being a pest again.
That’s it for now, my dryer is BUZZING at me, gotta run and take care of some clothes!
Just got in from picking up Daniel and a schoolmate from Speech class. We’re at the library (again!) and they’re going to show Chronicles of Narnia, part 2, at 4 pm. It is supposed to last until 6:30 so I’m going to ask hubby to take us out for dinner afterwards.
The luncheon was great….catfish and salad and mashed potatoes and cheesecake! I ate most of a slice of cheesecake and it was SO GOOD! And YAY, no dumping!
They had a high school choir for singing and then they gave out awards. It was nice.
Well, that’s it for now, I need to let my Daniel use the computer, he’s doing research for something at school.
Yesterday would have been my dad’s 73rd birthday. He died in 1991. We still miss him so much….and I am sad that my son will never know his grandfather’s love and devotion.
Daniel was an altar server for the FIRST TIME on Tuesday! My mom and I went to the Mass. She told me that even though my dad couldn’t be there for real, she knew that he was watching Daniel from Heaven and bragging to everyone that "That’s my grandson!"
Today is the luncheon for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. They provide us (their volunteers) with a really nice luncheon every year about this time. It will be at the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. Their restaurant caters: fried catfish and roast beef, cole slaw and salad, veggies, potatoes and rolls and cheesecake (YUM!) for dessert. There’s always entertainment – last year we had a high school choir sing for us. And they always have door prizes. OH and the special awards for special volunteers. Marilyn and I won awards two years ago! It was very exciting.
Last night we had dinner with my mom; she made beef soup. Daniel loves her soup. He won’t eat mine without fussing but for some reason he devours his grandmother’s. OH and she made wonderful, homemade cinnamon rolls (no raisins, thankfully!). We each had one for dessert. And she gave me a dish of unbaked rolls; I baked them at 8 pm so that they would be ready before Daniel’s bedtime. Ron and Daniel had one with a glass of milk and I had mine with some tea. Nice bedtime snack!
And today I’m wearing these jeans that are size 14. I have no rear end anymore…they are baggy in the butt LOL They fit perfectly on my waist but are baggy in the butt!
Oh well, that’s enough for now, off to the races!
I have already typed out a news release for the local paper regarding our last Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive. That’s one of my jobs as the assistant to the area coordinator, Marilyn. We had a great blood drive recently, we had 44 donating! Our next drive is September 9. We (Marilyn, Erin – our area boss, and I) are meeting for lunch on Monday; she’ll give us our posters and we chit chat about everything including but not limited to the CBOC. I’ll see if my mom can watch Daniel for me, he always gets bored LOL
Today I’m at the local library, since I don’t have WORD on my computer. In a bit, we’ll meet with my mom and her realtor and see a couple of houses. I love house-hunting!
Daniel is on another computer at the library, he’s playing a game of some sorts.
He just sneezed.
God bless you!
EIGHT DAYS to go! I am ready to leave right NOW!
Anyway, I’m at the town’s library. This morning has been really busy. My friend Marilyn and I delivered posters for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Blood Drive on March 17. Then we delivered a news release that she typed up…delivered that to the local paper. Then I ran over to the school to sort out the prizes that the children won for taking part in our American Diabetes Association School Walk for Diabetes. Then I went to lunch (yummy, Cajun food!) and now I’m here.
I have to search for some books….have to remember how to type the author’s last name….her genre is Amish, her name is Bruschetter, I think….anyway since I’m here I can search the shelves and the computer.
Last night we went over to Pulaskifield for the Lenten services (for the Sacrament of Reconciliation) and then they served dinner, so I didn’t have to cook! The only thing is, I had a roast in the oven….so we will have it tonight.
Tomorrow is my appointment in Springfield to have my epidural/injections for my neck problem. I am sort of nervous. My left eye was twitching last night while I was thinking about it. We have to be there by 9:00 am, so we have to leave here around 7:30 am since we will have to deal with traffic. Boo!
Anyway, I’m sort of nervous. I need to pray about it, that will help.
Okay, off to check out my Friends’ Page.
Maybe I’ll BBL?
My little one is sick with a tummy ache and a headache; he’s planted in front of the television. We left for school and weren’t even out of the driveway when he started complaining about his stomach. I told him to try and manage an hour and see how he felt, that I would be just a phone call away. He made me laugh, he said, “Grammy lives closer to school than we do and can get me faster, I’ll have Mary call her.” He’d rather go down Grammy’s than go home!
Anyway, he seemed okay so we drove onto school but by the time we arrived at the building, he burst into tears and said it hurt so much, so I just brought him back home. I tucked him into bed for a couple of hours and he rested a bit. Now he gets a bit of television time but after while, it’ll be back to bed for him. He said he was hungry so I fixed him some Ramen noodles, but he barely ate.
It has been a busy week. On Sunday we (the PCCW) fed between 130-140 people for the funeral dinner. On Monday we (our church) sponsored the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive at our church; we had over 40 people show up! Yay!
Today I was going to go grocery shopping. I’ve got a menu planned for the entire remaining month of January and have a list based on that menu. It’ll be a DOOZY of a bill when I’m done, but then I shouldn’t have to go back to the store except for things like bread and milk and fresh veggies and fruits.
I may try to go to the store tonight after dinner. Yum! I fixed a pot of ham and bean soup yesterday and it made the house smell wonderful. We didn’t eat it yesterday, we went out to Mazzio’s, so the soup will be really really good today since it’s had a day for the flavors to mingle!
I haven’t heard yet from the Missouri Bariatrics….every day I wonder if TODAY will be the day. When I spoke with Amy in December, she said it MIGHT be that I’ll hear from them this month. I’ll wait until February 1st, then I’ll call again. I’m so anxious. The bad news is that the 18 pounds I’ve lost…..I’ve gained some back…..grrrrrr! I need to get back to Curves and back to eating less. It feels as if I’ve been eating less but obviously I’m NOT.
Our American Diabetes Association School Walk is coming up…..silly me sent out a memo with a sponsor envelope to all the parents and put the wrong date for the Walk! The school principal just called me to say that she told me it ought to be on January 28! Not January 29! What a ditz I am. Anyway that’s the way my brain works sometimes…..there’s just too much junk going on upstairs for it to process and mistakes happen. Thankfully, the school secretary will put the correct date in the weekly newsletter and people should call me when questions.
