Yesterday I was complaining about cabin fever and how crazy ds and I are after being trapped together at home for a week straight. Today we’ve been having fun, though. He had a Pirate Makeup kit leftover from Halloween so I’ve decorated his face LOL
He had pancakes for breakfast and cookies for lunch. I’m getting more lenient at days go by.
Last night before I fell asleep, I was thinking of how grateful I am to be a mom. After all, for so many years we didn’t think we could have any children…ds was born 27 days after our 12th wedding anniversary. And then I thought of all the moms and dads who have lost their precious littles to cancer and other diseases and other disasters…I am so glad to have my son.
Even if he’s getting on my last nerve LOL
I’m probably on HIS last nerve too!
He’s still got the cough…at least last night he slept all night without having to wake for a breathing treatment (albuterol). Ah, he just called to me asking for help to take a shower and get all the makeup off. We made up his face and put huge scars on his hands and one super-huge on his neck as if someone tried to slice his head off. He kept running back to the mirror to look and declare, “Look how cool I am!”
There is a Coca Cola truck (a big one) stuck at the bottom of my road…it was just in front of my house around 11:00 when I heard the engine (the cats heard it too and ran) and heard the tires…it slid all the way back down the street, past FOUR houses and settled in the ditch right in front of our builder’s house. It finally got a tow truck to come out about 15 minutes ago, poor driver! I hope they get him/her out of the ditch. It’s cold outside and ds just announced that it’s SNOWING again!
He’s never going to school again! Agh!
Oh well, gotta go pop him into the shower.
Motherhood is a blessing, and a joy.
My son has been home for a week now….first he was sick and now he’s off school due to the ice storm that has once again whalloped SW Missouri. We both have cabin fever. We both are ready to clobber each other. My dh thinks it’s funny. I told him: “You stay home for a week straight, most of it with a sick child, who insists on being within arms’ reach 24/7, keeping track of his fever, his two medicines and then have a weekend with him relatively healthy, only to discover on Monday and then for Tuesday that he won’t go to school because of the damned weather and he’s crawling up the walls trying to keep occupied!”
Okay, so I’m ready to clobber my dh too LOL
I think that tomorrow I may ask him (dh) to deliver us to my mom’s house. At least there, we’ll have a third person in our little lives to distract us and it may help us both to get out of the house.
The only “break” that I’ve had this past week is the trip to and from Springfield for my doctor’s appointment and that was too stressful to be considered a “break” at least IMO. But I shall not obsess on that! Thanks, Jules, for setting me straight on that one LOL
Right now, dh is napping and ds is watching America’s Funniest Home Videos and cracking up so loudly it’s amazing that dh can sleep through it. But then dh slept through a tornado once…………..
Supper was good. We had breakfast for supper. I made something called a “Farmer’s Casserole” out of my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, made homemade blueberry muffins and served orange juice with them. Mmmmmm, good!
I hope that the ice clears up….dh says it’s supposed to clear up tomorrow sometime.
Keep your fingers crossed!!!
Thank God for sponsors who care. She told me that it was REMARKABLE that I wanted to drown my sorrows – then she laughed and said she was kidding….said it would have been remarkable if I had NOT wanted to drown my sorrows, since, after all, I still am a drunk! DOH! Anyway, she told me to do something that causes me not to think of my problems, get out of myself and call her again if I need her. Which I will do.
Oh it’s no fun being a sober drunk sometimes, but it’s a hell of a lot easier than being an active alcoholic. Getting drunk would not help my problems, only multiply them by 1,000,000. We talked about how the FIRST drink can feel good but then it can’t stop at one, it takes more to make the feeling last and by then, what a mess my life would be. So I will not pick up a drink today.
Or tomorrow either.
There is too much at stake for me to lose: my child, my husband, my life.
Anyhow, have you ever seen lightning and heard thunder during an ICE STORM? We had all three this morning! It was crazy and loud and the cats were afraid (they hate thunder) and one ended up under the blanket with me LOL Now it’s stopped although we are in a Winter Storm Warning until 3 pm. Lucky ds, no school for him, he’s been home since Wednesday, I doubt he remembers what school is LOL
My dh took my Toyota 4Runner to work, he said that the roads were just slushy where he drove….thank goodness he got in safely. His office doesn’t close. Ever. Even last year when we had the 2-week ice storm, they had to go into the office.
Okay, off to see my Friends’ Page and hang around other places……….
Hasta la vista!
Hello, I think it’s going to blizzard.
I went to the store this morning and stocked up and went to the gas station this afternoon to gas up. So we’ll be fine for a few days. As long as it’s cleared up by Monday, we’ll be fine. I’ve got a Toyota 4Runner, so I can get out in it. Or send dh out if we run low on groceries.
Do you like snow? I do. Unless I have to get out in it. I much prefer snow to ice. There’s no way I’m going out if it’s icy.
Here is a weather briefing for my tiny corner of the world: click here!
Anyway, I guess I better get off the computer……….
Hopefully the weather won’t get TOO nasty and knock the power out like in January………
Hasta la vista, babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Well, it’s a quarter till eight as I start this entry.
There’s a load of laundry in the dryer and a few piles of dirty laundry in the bedroom on the floor. It can wait until Sunday……..
Tomorrow I have to get up for an 11:00 am hair appointment, then get Daniel packed and ready to be at my mom’s by 12:30 so that we can be at the office by 12:45 because the bus to Branson leaves at 1:00 promptly. Promptly? We’ll see LOL
We get to spend THREE HOURS at a shopping mall, then eat at a nice restaurant and then see a show. Then the bus will bring us home. The weather is supposed to be cold and rainy, but still in the 40s to hopefully there’ll be no ice.
Now the story is supposed to change on Sunday night….they’re already talking about ICE STORMS and I’m freaking out thinking that there’s no way it can storm like this past January when we lost total power for 16 days. Pleeeeeeeeeeease, God, don’t let that happen again! My ds missed two weeks of school – all the schools in the area were without power, plus it was too icy for the buses to drive around safely. I pray that it never happens again! It was a total disaster!
I’ve got a party in Springfield to go to on Tuesday – and would you believe that last year when we went it was icy, too? It’s the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for those of us who volunteer with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. Hopefully the weather will be nice and “M” and I can make the trip east.
Anyhow, I’ve posted about the ADA School Walk for Diabetes and hope to get a response or two. Our official Walk will be in January….on the 28th I think? It will be on a Tuesday, the second day of Catholic School Week. Or will it be the 29th? I’ll post the date when I get more information…..
I’ve got to get my Christmas cards out in the mail this coming Monday and my dh told me that it would be nice to send cards to all his staff. That means I get to make out 22 more cards. Oh well, I love Christmas! And love sending cards!
Time to go check on the laundry and maybe get ds packed tonight so I don’t have to rush in the morning.
