Well, it’s Saturday but I think I can still join in on the fun! If you want to learn how to join in on 5 Minute Friday, visit Lisa Jo Baker’s blog.
Laundry. The first thing to pop into my mind is the piles of laundry that are in my home.
When I was a single gal, I only had to do laundry every other week. Now that I’m a married mom, it’s an almost daily thing. Especially with having a teenager around. Thankfully he does most of his own.
Another type of laundry I think of is the cleaning of my soul that the Lord provides each time I partake of the Sacrament of Penance. I know that some churches don’t believe in this Sacrament and there was a time in my teenage years that I resented the idea of “having to tell a Priest of my wrongdoings” and I would pout and stomp around when it was time to go. My parents made us all go at least twice a year.
Now that I’m grown up and have a son, we three try to go more often. When I receive the Sacrament of Penance, I am truly forgiven and I receive God’s Grace. What’s better than that? My soul is clean, I can have a fresh start.
One Saturday afternoon, we were waiting for Father to hear our communion and there was a Hispanic lady waiting, too. She spoke very little English and was worried; she asked me (in Spanish) if Father Paul knew Spanish. I answered her that, yes, I knew that he spoke Spanish. She was worried that he wouldn’t understand her but I reassured her that what he may not understand in words, he could understand with his heart. She hugged me and we shared a tear.
That’s how our Lord hears us. With his ears and with his heart.
Thank you, God!
No more TIAS for me, thank God. And Daniel is feeling better. He went to school yesterday and Thursday.
Today we are at the public library; I found a book for hubby (Anne Rice) and checked it out for him.
Ordered a new winter parka yesterday, it’s very very cute! Size MEDIUM, too!
Did so much laundry the other day LOL I swear I did SIX loads. Also cleaned both bathrooms. Was afraid that I would end up in the hospital and leave hubby with tons of dirty clothes and two dirty bathrooms, so I took care of stuff, just in case. Thankfully, I didn’t end up in the hospital.
Okay, that’s enough for now.
Finally, I have time to sit at my computer and post an update.
What a week this has been.
Daniel still has bronchitis and FINALLY went to school today (he hadn’t gone all week!). His fever finally broke the night before. He’s still got that terrible cough, though. And he’s still on his 2x a day Pulmicort, 2x a day Allegra plus Albuterol taken on the nebulizer every 3-4 hours. I feel as though I’m a prisoner of the clock, having to keep track of everything. Thankfully I’ve got a small notebook that I keep in the box with the nebulizer, where I write notes to myself…started that in 2004. Daniel was amazed at his "history" and was reading it the other day.
I told him he could go trick or treating tomorrow, but that we are NOT going to stay out late like we usually do. We’ll probably quit around 7 pm. The weather is going to be in the 70s during the day, but once the sun goes down, it chills quickly and his lungs do NOT need to be out in the cold.
I told hubby that after the week that I’ve had, I deserve dinner out, so he’s already planning on taking us out for dinner LOL
Got my hair colored today, it’s called Autumn Red…very pretty. Hubby didn’t notice. Or if he did he forgot to mention it.
Had chili for dinner. And homemade cornbread.
Should be upstairs folding laundry but am too lazy tonight.
Doing my second load of laundry, but THAT is a GOOD thing because it’s my brand-new clothes! All in Size LARGE! Going to wear a new outfit tonight, we’re going out for dinner, to celebrate my birthday EARLY since hubby won’t be here on Wednesday.
Hubby leaves tomorrow for a conference in Las Vegas. He’ll be back on Thursday. Daniel is already missing him. He doesn’t handle separations well, poor kid. Luckily, though, Ron doesn’t travel much for work, maybe just once a year.
I’m not envious of him going to Vegas. Some of the wives tag along with their hubbies (I would just have to pay airfare, the room would be with him, so it’s covered), but I’m not tempted to go to Vegas. Gambling and booze? No thanks.
We’ll miss him for the four days that he’s gone, though.
Wanted to try the new steak house in town but it’s STILL not open yet. So we’re going to another restaurant about 15 minutes from here. Hopefully the food will be good.
Got my haircut on Thursday, it’s very short! Daniel got his cut yesterday, it’s short, too, but not as short as he first wanted. I convinced him to NOT get it all shaved off LOL
Need to call school to set up parent-teacher conference Thursday or Friday.
Daniel should get the cast off his wrist Monday!
That’s all for now!
because we went to Mass this morning. Otherwise I wouldn’t know what day it is LOL
Things are getting back to normal around here. Thank God, my husband has NOT gotten the nasty stomach virus that Daniel and I had last week. And, thank God Daniel and I are feeling MUCH better! The last couple of weeks have been rather crazy and it’s good for things to be calm again.
Went to Walmart today. Twice. Forgot the milk so I had to go back. What a ding-a-ling I am!
Daniel is up at the shop helping Ron – they’re working on shelves for the school library.
I’ve got a roast in the oven and laundry in the washer and a load in the dryer.
Would love to take a nap but there’s too much going on.
Here we are, Tuesday afternoon, two days before school starts!
It’s another gorgeous day in the Ozarks. The weather has been spoiling us, it’s been in the low 80s when it should be in the 90s and 100s. I told hubby the other day that we’re gonna get punished next month, watch it be in the 100s for September LOL
We had lunch with hubby at his office cafeteria. The guys had burgers and fries and I had salad bar. Yummy! I had a bite of macaroni salad, some cottage cheese and then some lettuce with sprouts, boiled egg, croutons, sunflower seeds and a dash of ranch dressing. They had some raspberry vinegarette (SP?) but it was really THICK and I figured it had more calories than a dash of ranch (regular) so I skipped it.
Stopped at the butcher’s for some meat! Ordered some lamb chops for tomorrow. Daniel saw them on television and declared that he would like to try them, so we’ll have some on Friday.
Doing laundry…his new school clothes.
Hunting down recipes for fixing the lamb. I love going to Allrecipes and hunting down recipes. YUMMY! I found a recipe that I will try, it’s for Lemon Herb Lamb Chops. I need to get the chops tomorrow, along with a lemon or two for the marinade.
Anyway, that’s life for me right now.
It’s a bit rainy here in the Ozarks this afternoon. Rather cool. Nice!
Woke up this morning and ran to the Walmart for a few groceries and then onto the Herb Depot for my Greek yogurt. Then home for breakfast (watermelon) and onto the YMCA for a 30-minute bike ride.
Returned home and tried to nap….headache. But couldn’t nap and got hungry for some lunch. Made myself a yogurt, strawberry and blueberry and granola parfait – eat your heart out McDonald’s – mine was better than what you make LOL
Dropped some laundry into the machine and now it’s in the dryer…..finished up a book I started a few days ago…..and now am here just to see what’s new in the world.
It’s been a couple of days since I’ve posted. We’ve been a bit busy….
The pool party was successful. We watched Daniel swim and splash around for a couple of hours while we visited with hubby’s coworkers. Then we ate, or, shall I say, THEY ATE while I nibbled on my cottage cheese LOL We then left, only to have it downpour on the way home – we left just in time.
Sunday I did laundry all day…Monday the roofers came at 6:30 in the morning – YAWN! Yesterday we went to the pool. I couldn’t get in but thankfully it wasn’t too hot, so I managed to sit and read for a little over two hours.
Today we are at the local library, and at 11:30 Daniel is getting his haircut. Maybe he’ll get his mohawk trimmed LOL or he’ll just get shaved, whatever he wants.
It’s a warm day here in SW Missouri. Hubby is mowing, son is watching television and I’ve got laundry going. Always got laundry going it seems like LOL
Is this normal? I am so tired. Hubby is concerned about me. I asked him to take a loaded laundry basket downstairs and mentioned that I have no weight limitations on lifting but that it seemed just like “too much” to carry it downstairs myself. I am taking all my vitamins. Going to see the family doc on Friday and will mention this to her. Hubby asked if I was taking my bipolar meds, too, and I am.
I just think it’s normal to be tired within two weeks of having surgery.
Went to the fireworks display last night in town. It was very cool – or as my son said, “Sweet!”
Hubby had a lemonade and son had a bag of cotton candy. The food smell was tempting but I was happy with a snow cone, minus the syrup.
Okay, that’s it for now.
I am so tired….we got in last night around 8 pm after a day of doctor appointments and a class at the bariatric center. We stopped for lunch and dinner on the way home (broth for me) and stopped at the outlet mall in Osage Beach. I was exhausted and wanted to go straight to bed but dh and ds had other plans for me LOL They had fireworks and since we hope to go tonight to the city’s display, they had to blow them up last night.
My next appointment will be July 31, my “one month” appointment, along with another class. I need to call the doc in Mt. Vernon about the support group. He’s still listed as facilitator with meetings TBA.
