OMG, it’s almost MONDAY! Can you believe that it’s almost here? I wrote a check (yes, I’m one of those obnoxious people who still writes checks; it’s a long story LOL) at Walmart and had to date it 6/20/08 and almost FREAKED! YAY! I’m so excited!
Last night for dinner, I made spaghetti and sausage. Used whole wheat pasta and the guys devoured it. I wanted some so badly……..so I stole ONE bite.
Our new Striper is adapting wonderfully. Last night he was attacking our middle cat, Smokey LMAO! He would prance sideways, with his back arched and bat at her! He is SO tiny and she is HUGE compared to him and yet she was backing away from him as if she were afraid! And Boots, our older Siamese, she won’t have anything to do with Stripey…..she just growls at him and then stalks away. It will take her longer to fall for him.
We are at the local library again. I’ve got four books at home already checked out to read and so checked out four more today. I’ll keep them at home for post-surgery. In my closet, I’ve got a bunch of paperbacks I’ve been buying for $5 at Walmart over the past few months; from that selection, I’ll grab a few to take with me, just in case I feel like reading after surgery. And yesterday I got myself a handheld Solitaire game for the same reason. I know I’ll be walking the halls a lot in order to get out of the hospital, but still, there will be time to sit and just sit LOL
I need to check on my mom today; she hasn’t been feeling good and I don’t feel good leaving town knowing this. She complains a LOT but lately she’s had a new host of complaints. I’ve already called our family doc, but she can’t see her today. Dr. P is just too busy and it’s Friday and she’s the only doc in the office. So, after we leave her, Daniel and I will check in on her.
I need to also take pics of my dear sweet boy! Yesterday we both went in for haircuts and mine is shorter and curlier (naturally, of course!) and he has a MOHAWK! I swore the other day that I would never let him have such a thing, but while we were at Melissa’s he asked and begged and I swear I cannot tell that child “NO” so he got it. And then he asked if he could have Melissa color it BLUE! Ack! This time the word “NO!” came swiftly and promptly LOL
Okay, off to my Friends’ Page!
In a week, I’ll be waking up in the hospital! Yippeee!
Right now, ds and I are at the local libary; he wants to get “Cheat Codes” for his PS2 games. Hmmm, cheat codes? Back when I was a little girl, there were no such things as cheat codes, were there? LOL
I didn’t weigh myself this morning, I was sorely tempted to, but didn’t.
Daniel’s legs are very sore this morning, especially the left one. The bleedy part is about two inches across and maybe half an inch wide. We stopped at the pharmacy and got fresh bandages, tape and Neosporin (the kind that stops the pain). He’s got clean bandages on now.
Called a girlfriend to see about lunch. Last week we found a restaurant that served soup, and I slurped up the broth. This week we’ll do the same.
That’s about all for now.
Let’s see, we are due at the hospital on the 23rd by 7:00 am, so we COULD be through surgery by now! Could be!
Hmmmmm, I just realized that the clock on the computer says it 8:39 am, but actually it’s 9:39 am. Wonder what happened? Oh, well.
We had a quiet weekend; not much went on. Yesterday we had church, our beloved Father Daniel gave all of the fathers a special prayer and blessing. After church, we went out for brunch as usual….hmmmmm, what to eat? or shall I say, slurp? LOL I ended up having a bowl of oatmeal, with milk and a shake of sugar (yeah, the real thing). I ate only about 1/4 of the bowl, I actually got full, which surprised me!
Then on home, hubby wanted to spend Father’s Day in his workshop so my son and I hopped in the car and went to the pool. The sun was so HOT, it was an ideal day to be in the ice cold water LOL
Then back home, I fixed baked cod and cooked carrots for dinner; they each got a slice of whole wheat bread for their starch. Hubby looked for his potatoes but I said, “Nope!”
After dinner, hubby and son watched tv, while I read Jeanette Oke.
We were supposed to go to the pool today with one of my son’s buddies but it’s cloudy and overcast and scattered storms are scheduled, so I doubt we make it. We can try tomorrow.
Okay, that’s it for now!
Hasta la vista!
I’m counting and counting and counting. And I’m ready to pack my suitcase LOL
Right now, I’m washing dishes (in the dishwasher, OF COURSE), doing laundry (in the dryer), and getting ingredients ready to make a batch of cookies for our new next-door neighbors (Snickerdoodles).
It’s a very warm day here in SW Missouri! Hubby and son are doing outdoor work….tearing out weeds and replacing them with pretty green bushes and mulch mulch mulching everything in sight!
I ordered a 12-pack of protein (clear liquid) for post-surgery. They are the 3-oz, 43 grams of protein Whey Protein Bullets. I had an orange one the other day on the trip up to Columbia so to be different I ordered the package of Fruit Punch. I love punch!
Will need to order more protein drinks or go to the GNC in Joplin or Springfield after surgery….
Okay, off to see what else is going on in the world.
I am so tired! Yesterday was such a LONG day but it was worth it. We are all set for surgery on the 23rd. I completed the whole day of classes and hvae been pre-admitted to the hospital. All we need is for time to fly by LOL
At the office yesterday, they weighed me and I was 221! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
It was hard to be with my hubby for all that time (Wednesday night through last night) and watch him eat regular food while I slurped at my protein drinks. I stole a french fry from him Wednesday night at Wendy’s though LOL
My surgeon is so smart – he’s been doing these surgeries for eleven years and is world-renown. He’s also kinda good looking, which doesn’t hurt!
We were in class, a group of about seven of us, plus support people. Only one guy didn’t have a support person with him; he turned out to be the class clown (isn’t there one where ever you go, no matter how old you get?).
Came home last night to a HOT house….the air conditioner broke and the house temp was 82* at 9:00 pm. Thank God for ceiling fans. Hubby fixed it today, thank God!
Just got home from watching KUNG FU PANDA. It was alright. Daniel loved it and that’s what matters.
I need to order some Isopure, that was highly recommended yesterday for post-surgery. The first ten days will be clear liquids only, so I better find some that I like….
Okay, off to see what’s new in the rest of the world.
I wasn’t gonna do it, I was gonna wait until I met Dr. de la Torre tomorrow, but I DID IT and I’m so GLAD that I did it!!!
What’d I do?
Got on the scale this morning!
I am down to 225.5 and if my math is correct that means that I’ve LOST 5.6 POUNDS so far, in two days of my liquid diet! WOW!
I have called my hubby and my mom and one of my best girlfriends to tell them all LOL
Now, onto other news…related news…
Hubby and I are packed for the night and so is Daniel. He’s ready to go to his friend’s house right now, in fact! Hubby is taking off work around 3:00 so we should be in Columbia early enough to relax before having to hit the sack. Tomorrow is starting VERY early, at 7:45 am.
I’ve GOOGLED the maps from home to the hotel, and from the hotel to the surgeon’s office. The hotel is eleven minutes from the surgeon’s office. We just have to wake up early enough for hubby to get some breakfast and me to slurp a shake.
Well, I’m going to see what’s new in the rest of the world.
TWO WEEKS from this day, we will be waking up in Columbia and heading for the hospital for surgery! Wheeeeeeeee!
This morning I’ve had my first protein drink…thanks to Lois,
, I have a small supply of samples. This morning I had Muscle Milk, double chocolate. Yummy! I’ve got some strawberry AES protein drink in the fridge for lunch.
I know I can do this for two weeks, I’ve got to! Met a friend yesterday who had Lap Band surgery in March and she said she cheated throughout her pre-op time, that “everybody does it” and that she was supposed to have lost ten pounds but only lost nine. I need to run upstairs and weigh myself to see how much I do lose during these two weeks.
No YMCA pool today, it’s raining. Now my son just announced he wants to go to the library.
So see ya later!
Things are quiet around here, thankfully. The morning started off fine, I had laundry to take care of, we were out of milk so no cereal for anyone, but then I developed a nasty headache. After running out for milk and having a small lunch, I took a nice long nap. Woke up with the headache still but during the preparation of our dinner, it went away, thank God!
My hubby and son had porkchops, buttered taters and corn; I had some leftover chicken and dumplings. None of us were too hungry….lots of leftovers, although I tossed the remaining chicken and dumplings.
Tomorrow is the last day I get solid food….surgery is in 2 weeks and 1 day!
I need to contact the hotel where we’ll be staying in Columbia on the night of the 11th and let them know we’ll be arriving late. It may be around 10 pm and we don’t want them to give our room away. Hubby isn’t taking off work early in order to get there….we’ll drop Daniel off at his friend’s house on our way out of town. Also need to contact the friend’s mom and let her know it may be 9 pm on Thursday when we finally get home….my last appointment of the day is at 2:45 with the anesthesiologist and who knows how long that will take….plus hubby will need to stop for supper on the way home, too.
Okay, off to see what’s going on in the world.
Here comes the weekend! And on Monday, the start of my liquid diet.
Tonight, hubby and I had a DATE. My mom volunteered to keep our son while the two of us enjoyed a quiet meal in a nice restaurant. Well, the company was great but the food wasn’t so great. For a dinner costing approximately $20, they served it with canned corn (overcooked, of course) and steak fries that came out of the freezer. Hubby complained but to no avail. Not even an offer of a free dessert! Oh well. We won’t be going back there ever again.
We haven’t had a date since the last time we ate at that particular restaurant, back in August 2007.
It sure stormed a lot last night. Thankfully, no tornadoes were happening in the area but sheesh, the wind blew! My two Martin houses are still standing though.
Daniel is watching tv and hubby is doing homework from work, so I’m off to see what’s new in the rest of the world.
Today Daniel and I picked up one of his best friends from school – and his older sister – and the four of us went to the bowling alley. The kids bowled, drank a lot of pop and french fries with tons of ketchup, played video games and played billiards. We were together for three hours and let me tell you, I am worn out LOL
Can I take a nap?
Anyway, they all had fun and that’s what matters.
On the way home, Daniel announced that HE wanted to fix dinner tonight, so we stopped off at the grocery store and got a few extras that he needed. Hubby worked a bit late tonight, so we didn’t get started until 5:45 pm.
I was the sous chef for Daniel. He commanded me to do certain jobs and I obeyed LOL
We had hamburgers fixed with A-1 sauce, all the usual condiments, plus Daniel’s special tomato and onion and garlic and basil and oregano and salt and pepper salsa (no jalapenos though). I fixed a pitcher of iced tea for hubby and me.
We had a nice dinner. Hubby was very impressed with his son’s cooking and ate both of his burgers. We had a discussion on how things are going to be different come Monday (when my liquid diet starts). Even though I’m going to be sipping my meals and in-betweens, I will prepare food for my family. They’re not going to get any more fried foods, though, and they will get more veggies and fruits. Actually today I picked up some bing cherries at the store and we all had a bunch after dinner, so we’re starting early.
No more potato chips or Oreos or junk food….no more eating in front of the television (that’s a big one for all three of us)….I want my family to get healthy and stay that way.
I was telling hubby how the other day at the pool, I felt embarrassed to be so HUGE and that I told myself that next year, things would be so much better for me, physically and emotionally….I can get a new swimsuit for next summer and feel better about myself and not worry about embarrassing Daniel or myself by looking like a beached whale.
By this time next week, we should be heading home from our day-long appointment in Columbia….we should have met the surgeon and his entire team. We’re driving down on Wednesday since the day starts at 7:45 in the morning. Daniel gets to stay the night with a friend, lucky guy.
The 23rd is getting closer! So is Monday, but I think I’m ready for it!
