Friday Morning

Hello, world.  It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged.  We’ve been kinda busy around here, running around, spending time at the pool, shopping and going to a doctor appointment yesterday…..
Well, not my doctor appointment….took a friend to see her ENT yesterday….she’s got a bit of fluid in one ear plus some allergy problems, poor gal.  While we were in the city both Daniel and I got new shoes.  Mine are on my feet and his are in the box.  He’s so anxious to wear them but we said not until school. Also while we were in the city, went to MACARONI GRILL and OMG!  I had to order a plate of LINGUINE with CLAM SAUCE and it was incredible.  REAL clams in their shells!  I ate all the clams and part of the linguine.  I don’t think I’ve had that much to eat since surgery and it all stayed down and happy LOL  We are definitely returning there!Today so far I have washed strawberries and left them in the collander.  We picked a whole flat the other day and I have to do something with them before they all get funky.  Going to freeze them.  They’ll be wonderful mixed up with the blueberries we picked earlier this summer.

We have a doc appointment at 10:30 for Daniel to get his allergy shots and me my B12.  Then we are going to my Mom’s to wait for a REALTOR to call.  She might buy a house!  One of my best friends has her house for sale (she’s going to move to OK to live with her younger sister) and it would be PERFECT for my mom to buy!

Friday, Friday!

May 23, 2008 at 2:02 pm | Posted in Shopping, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Today was the first full day off from school but we had to get up early since I had to see my orthopedic surgeon at 9:30 in the city….an hour away.  He was happy with me and my Xrays and told me I didn’t have to wear the soft collar anymore LOL which is a good thing because I haven’t been wearing it at all LOL

So then my son and I went to the mall…..first time I’ve been there for any extended amount of time in YEARS!  We shopped at The Children’s Place and got him flipflops (2 pair for $5) and a swimsuit ($10 on sale).  Then we went to GNC and I got some Muscle Milk (on sale for $7.99, premixed bottles).  Then we went to Borders Express and got him a window-art kit (reduced price $10).  Then we went to Red Robin and spent nearly $20 on lunch….drove to Best Buy for his EARLY birthday present, two video games ($63 including tax) and then came home, ran to the gas station and spent $52 to fill my SUV.

It was a rather expensive morning.

But we had fun.

And now I’m worn out LOL

He is, at the present time, playing his new Playstation2 games….he couldn’t wait for TUESDAY, which is his actual birthday.

I am going to check out Amity Mama and then my Friends’ Page and then hit the couch for a nap!

Update on our Blizzard

January 31, 2008 at 7:25 pm | Posted in Diabetes, Laundry, Neck/Spine Troubles, Shopping, Supper, Uncategorized, Weather | Leave a comment

The good news?  There isn’t one.  My hubby says we aren’t supposed to get more than 2-3 inches of snow.

The bad news?  The wash tub next to my dryer somehow got a hunk of paper in the drain and my laundry room and family room got flooded.

The good news?  It’s tile and not carpeted.

The bad news?  It was still a mess to clean up.

Ahhhhhh, life.  Just when you think it’s safe to do laundry, hunks of paper appear in drains and mess up your floors.  Poor Daniel, I had sent him in to unload the dryer and bring the laundry basket up and he hollered, “Mom, I think you better come down here!”

I thought he was just trying to get out of doing his chore LOL

Anyhow, for an update on my loved one who was in the hospital for depression:  they are out of the hospital, on new meds and will be seeing a new therapist, so things are looking up.

As far as me, I felt so good today that I went to Walmart and promptly had an episode of numbness in my left leg that left me limping and hanging onto my basket like a drunk….I almost called my dh to come find me in Aisle 12 but figured that the numbness would pass before he found me….and it did.  So I drove home carefully afterwards and haven’t even mentioned it to him.  I forgot to mention it at supper….oh well.  I think I just have to get used to having them occasionally and pray that they don’t happen while I’m on Interstate 44 going 70 mph!

Dinner was good….spaghetti with meat sauce (Italian sausage) and a French baguette.  Both dh and I remembered our Byetta so neither of us ate much.  Yay!  If only it would start showing up on the scale.

Okay, off to Amity Mama to see what’s going on.

Toodles for now!

Happy Wednesday!

Tomorrow life finally gets back to NORMAL!  Both dh and ds return to their jobs – work and school LOL!  It’s been nice having them both around but JEEZ, can I have the house to myself?!?

Today I ran around with my friend D.  We were all over Joplin – went to Red Lobster for lunch (she bought since I drove); then to Office Depot, Target, and Kohl’s and then to Starbucks for a snack and then to Office Depot one more time!  Whew!  We left home around 10 this morning and didn’t get home until 5 tonight.  Then I fixed dinner and am chilling out here in front of my computer.

My ds is watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.  I swear that child knows every time it’s on and would watch it 24/7 if he could.  He’s very excited about returning to school tomorrow.  More excited than dh is about returning to work LOL.

The two of them got haircuts today; I need to get my hair colored again, the gray is starting to reappear in small amounts.

OMG!  We went to church yesterday and then out for brunch and this little old lady called dh my ds’s “Grandpa”!  I had to correct her, I tried to do it nicely but JEEZ PEOPLE, he’s NOT that OLD!!!!!  Poor dh!  He said he already FELT old yesterday but to have someone do that to him made him feel older.  It’s tough being an older parent.

Okay, oh, today I bought ds some new jeans…..one pair he won’t even wear because they zip and button shut…..he hates button closures on his jeans.  So guess what?  I get to return to Joplin and return the jeans.  There’s no Target here at home.  I also bought a really cool calendar for MOMS that will keep me organized (yeah, right LOL).

Gotta run over to Amity Mama and see what’s new………

Cya later!!!

SHOPPING LIKE CRAZY!!

December 10, 2007 at 11:40 am | Posted in Brother & Family, Christmas, Christmas Party, PCCW, Shopping, Uncategorized, Weather | Leave a comment

I’m almost finished with my Christmas shopping!

I’ve ordered BOOKS for Daniel, a HARRY & DAVID BASKET for my brother and SIL in Michigan, a new ROBE for my mom………and next week I can pick up the rest of what I’ve ordered for my Mom and dh!

Sheesh!  It’s FUN but exhausting.

This past Saturday night was our BRANSON afternoon/evening Christmas Party.  We got to ride the charter bus down at 1:00 pm and didn’t get home until almost midnight.  I was so tired yesterday (Sunday) morning!

And then Sunday afternoon was our PCCW Installation of 2008 Officers/Christmas Party.

Sheesh!  More fun!

And now the weather is NASTY – beyond NASTY.  I keep waiting for ds’s school to call and tell us to come get the children.  It’s icy and cold and wet and just plain NASTY!

My fingers are freezing down here LOL  Maybe I ought to just type faster? LOL

Anyhow, I am getting hungry for some lunch.

Hasta La Vista!!!

Oh it’s such a COLD evening!

November 28, 2007 at 7:07 pm | Posted in Chinese Food, Christmas, Christmas Party, Feeling Yucky, PCCW, Shopping, Uncategorized, Weather | Leave a comment

Baby, it’s COLD outside!  and it’s misty, too…I am not a COLD-weather person.  Give me some warmth, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Another busy day with D.  Went shopping!  Yay!  Purchased many beautiful things such as a set of placemats with matching napkins for setting the table on Sunday.  Plus some candles.  We are still in need of fancy dishes (including salad plates) and wine glasses.  D is to call around and see what she can find.

Went out for lunch at Applebees.  I had never been there before, we had “ribettes” and they were pretty good.  They were “All you can eat” but I couldn’t even finish my first platter and had to get a doggie bag.

Then we shopped some more and I found some pretty capris for the Christmas Party.  They’re dark navy denim with lace around the ankles.  And since they are “average” sized, the lace comes to my ankles.  They’re going to look so PRETTY with my black patent leather ballerina slippers and my navy velvet top!  OH and I purchased a pair of snowflake earrings today, too.  All set for the party!  BTW, the couple we asked to drive down with us….they want to take the bus….they’ve never been on a charter bus and think it will be fun.  So dh and I will drive down alone.  But hey, we get to go!

I wish we could afford to spend a night in a Bed & Breakfast in Branson….but with $$ tight for Christmas, I doubt it would be reasonable.

*sigh*

Anyway, it was a very productive day!

Now I’m tired, dh is tired from his long day at work and ds is acting like he doesn’t feel good.  We went out for Chinese for supper and he barely ate.  And his eyes look tired.  So he’s going to bed at 8:00 pm.  Me, too, I think, just in case he IS sick and needs me during the night.

Okay, that’s my day in a nutshell.

Hasta Luego!

It’s Tuesday Night!

November 27, 2007 at 7:36 pm | Posted in Christmas, Diabetes, PCCW, Shopping, Supper, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

I ran around today…did lots of stuff in preparation for SUNDAY!  We (the ladies of the PCCW) are preparing dinner for the Priests to enjoy, after the Penance Service at 4:00 pm.  We are fixing a pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and hot rolls.  We are asking one lady to prepare two homemade pecan pies – Father D loves her pecan pies!  I’ll make my famous SOUPer pot roast and the potatoes.  The rest is up to the other ladies LOL

Sister S is preparing appetizers and serving wine to the Priests before dinner; they’ll have coffee during dinner and with their dessert.  I’m bringing some tea bags for myself, since I don’t partake of alcohol OR coffee.  It should be a very nice dinner, which the Priests definitely deserve.

So that means that my dh and ds will be “on their own” for dinner on Sunday since I’ll eat there after serving.  They didn’t seem to mind when I told them at dinner tonight.  Oh, BTW, dinner tonight was spaghetti with meat sauce, and garlic bread.  Yummy!  Although my Byetta and Metformin stopped me from PIGGING OUT on the spaghetti…which is a GOOD THING!

Speaking of not pigging out, since August, I’ve lost 17 POUNDS!  Yippee for me!  That will look good to the surgeon WHEN we finally get to see him in Columbia.  I come home daily and check my phone messages but so far nobody has called to make the appointment for the consult.  It’s so HARD to wait!  But wait I shall do…because I know that SOONER or later, they’ll call me and we’ll go to Columbia and get GOOD NEWS!

See how optimistic I can be?!? LOL

It’s not always easy but tonight I can be positive……………

Tomorrow me and D are going to Springfield to shop for Christmas decorations for the tables for the dinner on Sunday.  Yippee!  I love to shop!  Especially when we are spending HER money and not mine! LOL

Okay, off to Amity Mama to see what’s up!

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 22, 2007 at 6:35 pm | Posted in Christmas, Gratitude List, Movies, Shopping, Supper, Thanksgiving, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

The bird was stuffed and in the oven by noon and we were all stuffed and on the couch by 5:00 pm.  Wow, what a meal.  We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, homemade rolls, green beans and glazed carrots and homemade cranberry sauce.  And we had cherry pie and mincemeat pie.  Oh and cool whip for the cherry pie.  I am not going to eat again until tomorrow!

My dh and ds are watching television, “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid” but it was too saccharine for me, I couldn’t watch it.  So I decided to come here and check my email and to blog.  I’ll go to my “Friends Page” next and see what’s new in the rest of the world.

After stuffing ourselves, I took my mom home and we made a pit-stop at Walmart…do you know that they already have their Black Friday prices marked?  We made a purchase for ds…something he REALLY wants…saved $20 from the internet price at Toys R Us and from the manufacturer’s website.  Woo hoo!

I am thankful for so many things:  God, my sobriety, serenity, my family and friends….what are you thankful for??

Anyhow, that’s what I’ve been doing today.  I hope that everyone had a good day.
