Hello, I think this is Thursday??

Daniel finally went to school today! It was pretty foggy all night and I swear I heard something falling from the sky onto the back deck, but it was clear this morning. There are some area schools closed but nothing in the immediate area. He didn’t want to go to school, he who was so bored yesterday LOL

Went to lunch with my mom. She purchased an adorable Jim Shore piece, of a lion with a lamb. She’s going to put it under her tree.

Going to the diabetic shoe store after I pick Daniel up from school. With Medicare and my hubby’s health insurance plan, I can get one pair of diabetic shoes each year. Last year I got a very cute pair and this year I am hoping they’ll have the Mary Jane’s that I saw last time…I can wear them when the weather isn’t too cold…and can definitely wear them in the spring and summer.

Tonight Daniel is going to the Kiwanis Club’s children’s Christmas party. One of the parishioners from church called the other night to invite him and get directions out to our place. He’ll pick him up, take him to the party and then bring him home. They’re having pizza and pop and Santa will be there giving out gifts. Sounds like fun, but they didn’t invite me!

Day Three of ICE: Cabin Fever!!! Help!!!

Day three of no school.

We cleaned bathrooms and mopped today. That’s how bored we are. I tried to nap on the couch after lunch (spaghetti) but Daniel wouldn’t leave me alone. Neither would two of our cats. So I got up and am here now. Promised Daniel we could play something when I’m finished. Yesterday we played UNO and Yahtzee! He kicked my butt at UNO and I got two Yahtzees! during our game so I kicked his butt and now we’re even.

I think hubby has a feeling that we’ve got cabin fever because he called earlier and said he’d take us out for dinner. He also remarked that the ice is melting off the building tops at work, but that we’re supposed to get more sleet tonight and tomorrow morning. Looks like Daniel will get the entire week off….

It’s cold! I’m wearing my sweats and they keep me warm but I swear I don’t have all the body fat that I used to and since I’ve lost that insulation, I’m colder than ever before LOL

I’m going to ask hubby to take me to the library tonight, there’s a book in that they’re holding for me. I’ve got parts 2 and 3 and need part 1.

ANOTHER icy morning!

No school today again!

The radio stations typically announce school closings BUT this morning the one we listen to wasn’t announcing ANY. So I called the DJ to ask about them and he said for me to check the computer. Huh? I’m not stomping downstairs and sitting at my computer and waiting for 15 minutes for it to get me to the website (I’m on dial-up and it takes forever!). So I told him that I didn’t have a computer (OMG, I LIED!) and asked him to find out school on his list. And he did. Next time, I guess I’ll stomp downstairs and check the television….it might have been quicker and I wouldn’t have to lie again LOL

Daniel wanted muffins for breakfast again so I fixed triple-berry muffins (blueberry, raspberry and blackberry). And he only ate one. He hasn’t been eating well this week; I’m keeping an eye on him in case I need to call the doctor.

Hubby took my 4WD to work today again. He told me last night that it was pretty slick. According to Daniel, we got two inches of snow. I don’t see any snow in the yard but I see that the road in front of our house is pure white. I wouldn’t mind driving on snow, it’s this darned ICE that is so dangerous.

Okay, off to see what the rest of the world is up to!

Baby, it’s COLD Outside!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

The temperature is 15* and I’m not going outdoors if I can help it! I wonder if Daniel will have school tomorrow? I’ve got a window open on one of the Springfield radio stations to see if they have any school closings listed yet…..maybe I can turn off the alarm and sleep in tomorrow?

Dinner was yummy. Ham and cheese muffins with fruit salad (or as hubby calls it, fruit soup). I had a muffin and a bowl of fruit.

Hubby is upstairs reading The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. I read it first and told him that he had to read it. Wow. Good book. Go get it at your local library if you haven’t read it already. And get a box of kleenex. It’s an emotional read.

Daniel is watching television. Jeepers, I love having him home with me, but if he doesn’t have school tomorrow, I might get Cabin Fever and start hollering at him LOL

Okay, that’s my little frozen update.

An ICY Morning in SW Missouri

NO SCHOOL TODAY!

I woke up with the clock radio this morning at 6 am and after the news and weather report, they had a TON of school closings, including our private school.

So hubby took my vehicle into work – since it’s 4WD – and Daniel and I got to stay home. Daniel got up right away to start watching cartoons but I stayed in bed until 9 am. Sweet!

Daniel woke me up because he was hungry, so I made chocolate chip muffins. I only ate one. Then I made fruit salad for dinner….blueberries, raspberries, green grapes, strawberries and cherries. We’ll add the bananas right before dinner. We’re also going to have ham & swiss cheese muffins. Kind of like breakfast for dinner.

I was supposed to go to the neurologist today but needless to say, had to cancel the appointment. Hubby said he heard that the highway between here and Springfield hasn’t even been cleaned yet. The next appointment he had open is in FEBRUARY 2009. Oh well.

Going to make some potato soup for lunch…..Daniel probably won’t eat any of it, but he loves Campbell’s soups. Glad that I went to the grocery store on Saturday!

Okay, off to my other neighborhoods on the internet to see what everyone else is up to!

Good Morning, World!

Today is Thursday, Daniel goes to the doctor in a little over an hour, I’m at the library goofing off. Went to the grocery store for more oranges and to get some cash for our lunch (since his appointment is at 10:30 and his school lunch time is 10:50) and totally forgot to write the check for more – what a ding-dong!

Anyway, he said last night that his arm isn’t hurting as badly, but then when he woke up this morning, he started fussing again. Hopefully the doctor can get a good X-ray today and won’t need to send us to Springfield for an MRI. How do you get an MRI of a 9-year old’s wrist? I hope that we don’t have to find out.

It’s a beautiful day here in the Ozarks, going to get to the low 80s, not a cloud in the sky.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yay! Today is my birthday! I’m now 46 years young!

Yesterday my dh took me to Red Lobster in Joplin for dinner. Daniel had crab legs, dh had the ‘all you can eat’ shrimp and I had shrimp scampi and popcorn shrimp. And we all had dessert! It was a nice dinner.

Things were crazy here last week….we actually had TORNADO warnings one night. Daniel and I were working on his homework when Ron called and said to get to the basement. I turned on the weather radio and they said that a tornado was north of Purdy headed towards Monett. The tv said the same thing, so Daniel and I went into the shelter. Poor Daniel was so scared. Well actually, I was too…I hate tornadoes. Thank God it missed us and missed Monett but hit near Mount Vernon and just north of Aurora. The newspaper had photos of the tornado and the damage. Lots of homes were destroyed. I hate living in tornado alley! This is October, but you never know when severe weather could happen.

And then on Thursday after soccer practice we went out for pizza…ds hardly ate and then he leaned on me and said he wanted to go home and go to bed. He was warm during the night…feverish…and woke up with a really sore throat. He was sick all weekend and didn’t feel good until yesterday.

He was restless all night and woke me up twice during the night. I wasn’t sure about sending him to school but he said he didn’t feel too bad and wanted to go. I left some cough drops with the school secretary. He’s got a slight cough…not as bad as it was on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully he’ll make it through the day…he has a Religion Test today and tomorrow, a Math Test.

My mom told me last week that she’d take me to lunch today for my birthday. It’s just now 9:00 am. Should I call and invite myself over? lol

Well, I’m going to Amity Mama and catch up…maybe I’ll bbl?

last night I had a really long post and then my computer froze up. Totally. So I lost my post.

I went to bed and then we had a thunderstorm come through and it zapped the power in my home and we overslept this morning.

*sigh*

Anyway, yesterday is over. Today is here.

My car battery was dead in the morning. We had to go to Mass in dh’s truck. On the way home from brunch we stopped at the auto parts store for a new battery. $65 for a new one. Oh well.

I stopped at Walmart this morning and got a new battery for the clock radio so we shouldn’t oversleep anymore when the power goes off.

My dh is going to Minnesota in the morning; the clock is set for him to get up at 4:45. Lucky him, he doesn’t have to fly commercial, he gets to go on one of the company’s private jets. He’ll be home late Thursday.
