It’s been a rainy morning here in the Ozarks and it’s finally stopped. The sky is bluing up and the humidity is starting to RISE! Yuck!
We have a three day weekend for Labor Day. Hubby is planning on working in his shop over the weekend, he’s building a table for our school library. As soon as he finishes the first, he’ll start the second one. Busy guy!
My mom finalized financing this morning on her new home. She’s going through the same mortgage company we went through six years ago when we purchased our new home. She had planned on going through a local bank – but the day after she LOCKED IN her rate, the processor called and said that the rate was HIGHER and that there was nothing to be done. So I just called their office and raised a bit of Heck and told them where to put their rate LOL
I’m at the local library, waiting until it’s time to pick up Daniel from school………
What a busy day. We had the FUN-4-ALL at church today; hubby and I helped out from 11 am until 12:30 pm, selling tickets for the BBQ chicken dinner. Then we had to eat! Hubby got a hamburger and hot dog and chips and Diet Coke, and I had two tamales and an orange snow cone. Daniel had eaten earlier (a hot dog and lemonade). It was nice and thankfully the rain stopped! They didn’t have the huge bouncey-games outdoors though, I guess the rain early on made them decide not to do them this year. Last year it rained. This year it rained up until the time Mass started. We were doing really well with the chicken dinners, hubby counted over $500 cash taken-in when we left.
Then we came home and napped. Well, it was HARD WORK selling tickets!
Dinner tonight was a ham steak, mashed sweet potatoes (out of a box, yeah yeah, I cheated and they weren’t as good as the real ones would have been but I was tired LOL) and corn. I had a bite of ham, maybe a teaspoon of potatoes and a couple kernels of corn. And then a handful of bing cherries.
I’ve been eating a LOT of fruit lately and the only thing wrong is that I’m not getting in enough protein. Bleah! I’m so tired of protein drinks.
Tomorrow I am going to call the realtor and we’re going to look over some houses for my mom! Yippee!
It’s a bit rainy here in the Ozarks this afternoon. Rather cool. Nice!
Woke up this morning and ran to the Walmart for a few groceries and then onto the Herb Depot for my Greek yogurt. Then home for breakfast (watermelon) and onto the YMCA for a 30-minute bike ride.
Returned home and tried to nap….headache. But couldn’t nap and got hungry for some lunch. Made myself a yogurt, strawberry and blueberry and granola parfait – eat your heart out McDonald’s – mine was better than what you make LOL
Dropped some laundry into the machine and now it’s in the dryer…..finished up a book I started a few days ago…..and now am here just to see what’s new in the world.
…and everything is just fine!
I tried to take a nap earlier but my son and the kitten were too busy bouncing around the living room for me to snooze. Oh well. I didn’t sleep well last night but it wasn’t because of surgery after effects…it was the darned weather. Our weather alert radio went off at least 10 times during the night and early morning. Thunderstorms and there was a tornado about an hour and a half north of here…
Anyway, I just wanted to update that things are good. Still sipping and sipping, as prescribed by the doc. My hand isn’t so swollen, so that’s good – I can type fast again LOL
Off to see what’s new around the internet.
Hasta la vista!
Last night was another rough night for me……..
I had queasiness all day and the worst hit around 9:30 pm when I started puking my guts up (sorry for TMI). It lasted until 1:30 am and I am totally worn out. I couldn’t even get out of bed to take Daniel to school until 9:30 am. Luckily, though, he didn’t wake up and hear me (he would have gotten pretty upset if he had) since I was running to the hallway bathroom. Oh, and he slept with me last night, poor kid, he’s been run through the wringer since Saturday night.
This morning on our way to school, we saw one of the houses on Cleveland Avenue that had burned down….it wasn’t like that Saturday around 3:45 on our way to early church services, so it must have happened between then and today. Wow, what a weekend. Someone told me yesterday that TWO people were killed in the tornado that hit Purdy, MO on Saturday night. There was a child in the ER on Saturday night with a broken arm and Daniel spoke with him; apparently he and his family got caught up in the weather and their van was TOSSED around and the child flew out of his seatbelt and that’s how his arm was broken.
We were in bed last night by 8:30 and he (Daniel) was out like a light. I’m glad he was able to sleep in a bit this morning. Tonight we’re going to bed early again – we won’t go to see Ron in the hospital today because it’s so far (an hour) and the price of gas is almost $3.50 and my SUV is a gas guzzler. But I’ll let Daniel call him as soon as he gets out of school and then before bed.
I’m tired and am going to check out my Friends’ Page and then to rest for a while until I have to pick Daniel up from school.
I picked up ds from school today….he was holding onto his tummy and had a miserable look on his face. I shouldn’t have taken him this morning….he barely ate his lunch, had to do skipping excercizing during indoor recess which jiggled his tummy around, and he had to go to PE whether he felt good or not. Next time he thinks he’s well enough to go to school, I’ll override his vote and keep him home where he belongs.
As for me, I’m feeling MUCH better. No more queasiness and I had a good dinner. We went out for Chinese food, ds’s request since he felt like rice and soup. And he didn’t even eat soup….he had rice though, and chicken and ice cream.
Well it’s thundering again. Maybe I ought to get off the computer………
My ds woke up feeling lousy this morning and asked to stay home from school; he complained of a headache and tummy ache, so I let him go back to sleep. He woke me up at 9:30 asking to go to school since he felt better. So I just dropped him off.
I have been feeling nauseated since last night. I took my Byetta at 5:30 but dh didn’t get home until 6:30 and by then it had taken effect and I was feeling like I was going to barf (sorry for TMI!). I tried to eat something but it wasn’t until I drank some orange juice that I felt better. Then I had a bowl of cereal – couldn’t stomach the pasta and Italian sausage – and felt much better. But this morning am still a bit queasy. So when ds said he felt queasy, I worried (of course) that something was going around the family. But thankfully he’s better and is now at school.
Am currently at the local library. It’s a rainy and gloomy morning. We start a flood watch at 1:00 pm (again). We’ve had the worst flooding this year…the creek downtown has come over its banks twice, once a teen from the high school drowned in it….dangerous weather. All I ask is NO tornadoes, please!
Anyways, I stopped by the library to see if they had the new Beverly Lewis book and the new one from Debbie Macomber, but they aren’t available, yet. My name IS on the list, though!
Tomorrow is our Salad Luncheon Extravaganza at our church. I’ll be there at 7:30 am until probably close to 3:00 pm. It’s going to be a LOOOOONNNNGGGG day, but it’ll be fun and worthwhile. This year, our PCCW has decided that we will donate 10% of our proceeds to the local Children’s Advocacy Center. Hmmm, last year we made close to $1,200.00 and this year promises to bring in a lot of people! The gal in charge of publicity mailed flyers to over 120 businesses in town (all Chamber of Commerce members). Hopefully, we’ll have enough salads, brownies and cookies LOL
Today was a lazy day. I took a nap in the morning and then played around on the computer for a while. Then picked up ds from school, went to the YMCA (rode almost 7 miles on the recumbant bicycle!) and then went to the grocery store for salad fixings. Went home and started working on one salad, when dh called and said that the tornado sirens were blaring, he was in a “safety zone” at work, and that me and ds need to get to the basement. Well, SHOOT! I hate tornadoes…..I went downstairs and asked ds to put the tv on a local station and then we watched to see what was going on. The worst storm was south of here, but there was dark red in our area, too. We sat and watched, ds cuddled up with me (he hates tornadoes), until the all-clear was given. Then dh called and said let’s meet for dinner. No argument from me!
Anyway, tonight at 7:00 pm we are meeting at the church hall to put out tables and chairs and to decorate. Then I’ll go home and finish making my two salads!
It’s a beautiful day in SW Missouri. The sun is shining and the sky is blue and the temp is in the 80s almost!
Well, it’s my mother’s birthday and I am not calling her. Some people reading this probably wonder why I’m being such a bitch. It’s like this….a person can only take so much of the “Don’t come over” and “Don’t call me for two weeks” and etc., etc., before she starts to feel totally rejected. She claims to be sick, sometimes she is angry for strange reasons. If a person is angry, get angry, let’s talk about it and then let’s get over it. But no, she has to get angry and then tell me to go away. Just like a child. I’m not putting up with her childish behavior anymore.
I had an awful thought this morning after church…what if my brother calls her and chews her out for upsetting me? He has called her before and told her to “Behave and don’t cause problems” so it wouldn’t surprise me if he has done this or will do this. My dh said it’s between the two of them if he does, for me not to worry, so I’ll try not to.
I hate feeling rejected and am tired of it. Period. I have no idea what to do now, though. I suppose I’ll just sit and see if she eventually calls me. One thing for sure, this is a topic for discussion next week when I see my therapist LOL
Onto other things….
I think I’m recovered from the weekend DCCW conference. I went to bed at 8:30 last night and slept like a rock and just now took an hour nap on the couch.
Supper tonight (I HOPE) will be BBQ ribs and buttered potatoes and veggies. My dh got called into the office and he’s still there. He said he’ll probably be there “for a while”, whatever that means. Hopefully he’ll come home and we can have supper together. I’ll wait unti 6:00 and if he’s not home, put the BBQ ribs in the fridge for tomorrow and take ds to McDonald’s or Mazzio’s.
Speaking of my ds, guess what he did? MOWED the yard! Not all three acres, but a big lot of it. He looked like a big kid out there, it almost made me cry LOL My dh says that by the end of this summer, ds will be probably doing the majority of the mowing. I told ds to make sure he gets an increase in his allowance for all that mowing LOL
Okay, off to my Friends’ Page to see what’s new in the world.
It’s so COLD outside! We froze yesterday at the soccer game and this morning when we were leaving for church, it was actually SNOWING!
Is this April?
In January we had tornadoes and ice storms and now that it’s April, we are having snow. It won’t amount to anything, just a few flakes, but JEEPERS!
Dinner is in the oven: SOUPer Roast. I browned a chuck roast in a bit of canola oil, then added a can of Campbell’s Beefy Mushroom Soup and a can of water and popped it into the oven. It’ll bake on 350* until 5:00 pm. Then I’ll mash some potatoes and fix up some corn and we’ll be set for dinner. I also have a package of Bisquick Cheesy Garlic biscuits. YUMMY!
I’ve also done a few loads of laundry…three. And have been shopping for groceries.
Tomorrow I go see my endocrinologist. I wonder if he’ll be happy to see my weight (which is about the same as last time). At least I can give him a positive update regarding my weight loss surgery!
One of the neighbor boys is here…he’s 12. He and ds are doing something rather noisy…one of them just ran up the stairs and the other followed. Hmmmm, maybe I ought to pop out of the office and see what they’re up to?
Maybe I’ll BBL.
