Ouch!

Well, here I sit with sore toes. I had surgery on Friday and am in pain even when I take my pain meds. It’s pretty funny, actually, the way nurses and doctors DON’T listen to you. Both my husband and I told each and every nurse and tech on Friday that I can NOT take codeine. So what does the doctor send home? A codeine derivitive. Hmmmmmmmm, makes you wonder. I can NOT take codeine. It gives me nighmares. So we came home and my husband filled the prescription and then noticed that it was almost codeine, asked the pharmacist what to do and he told Ron to have me break the pills in half and try to take them. So I’ve been popping a half every two to three hours. On the first day I had a nightmare (there were spiders all over me) but since then have been fine.

I have to unwrap my mummy toes nightly and then soak them in warm water for 15 minutes, then pour peroxide on them (OUCH!) then dry and re-wrap them. I go back to the podiatrist on Monday and hopefully can go back to work on Tuesday.

Ron and Daniel took good care of me on Friday and Saturday but on Sunday I started cooking again. And I’ve been doing it ever since. As long as I don’t have to stand or walk around a long time, the pain is manageable. Of course, walking into tables or having my 10-year old step on my toes doesn’t feel too good…poor Daniel has stepped on me at least three times. He just doesn’t look where he’s going LOL

Tonight I’m fixing a ham and sweet potatoes and apple casserole. It sounds really good. This morning for breakfast I had Cream of Wheat. For some reason I’ve been craving it and had a bowlful and it was yummy.

So that’s my boring life for this week.
