Tomorrow is Halloween!

Finally, I have time to sit at my computer and post an update.

What a week this has been.

Daniel still has bronchitis and FINALLY went to school today (he hadn’t gone all week!).  His fever finally broke the night before.  He’s still got that terrible cough, though.  And he’s still on his 2x a day Pulmicort, 2x a day Allegra plus Albuterol taken on the nebulizer every 3-4 hours.  I feel as though I’m a prisoner of the clock, having to keep track of everything.  Thankfully I’ve got a small notebook that I keep in the box with the nebulizer, where I write notes to myself…started that in 2004.  Daniel was amazed at his "history" and was reading it the other day.

I told him he could go trick or treating tomorrow, but that we are NOT going to stay out late like we usually do.  We’ll probably quit around 7 pm.  The weather is going to be in the 70s during the day, but once the sun goes down, it chills quickly and his lungs do NOT need to be out in the cold.

I told hubby that after the week that I’ve had, I deserve dinner out, so he’s already planning on taking us out for dinner LOL

Got my hair colored today, it’s called Autumn Red…very pretty.  Hubby didn’t notice.  Or if he did he forgot to mention it.

Had chili for dinner.  And homemade cornbread.

Should be upstairs folding laundry but am too lazy tonight.

Sunday Evening Musings

October 26, 2008 at 4:55 pm | Posted in Feeling Yucky, Hubby's Workshop, Supper, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

We just finished dinner.  YUMMY!  I made a corned beef with red potatoes and corn.  We hadn’t had corned beef in a LONG time and hubby loves it (so does Daniel).

Hubby is in his workshop….Daniel just went up to find him for some reason?

Speaking of Daniel, he’s got bronchitis.  I’m keeping him home from school tomorrow and calling the doctor.  It didn’t warrant a trip to Urgent Care or the ER but he needs to be listened to tomorrow.  Please pray that he doesn’t develop pneumonia!

Today was the special fund-raising luncheon at church for a parishioner named Christy.  She’s battling breast cancer.  Christy is a young mom (under 40, so to me she’s young) and has four children (three daughters, one son).  Her hubby works at the same place as my hubby, so they’ve got good insurance coverage but as we well know, cancer is an expensive (and nasty) disease.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Chemo is very rough on her.

Thinking of Christy and her battle with breast cancer had me thinking of my best friend last night.  She had breast cancer and it took her away from us after just a 15-month battle.  I still miss her every day.

What day is this? Where am I?

I can’t believe it’s been FOUR DAYS since I’ve posted….that must be the longest lapse I’ve ever had.

Yesterday was my birthday!  I turned 47.  Since hubby is still in Las Vegas, my mom took me and Daniel out for dinner.  It was nice.

Today, Daniel has a half day of school.  Lucky kid.  Although, he’s not feeling very lucky, he woke up with a serious sore throat.  Maybe I’ll have to call the doctor tomorrow?

I need to find some Halloween games and things to do for the kids next week at their Halloween party.  I’m one of the three room-mothers for the 4th grade.  One mom already told me that she will be out of town that day and can’t help.  I need to call the other mom to see if she can come help.

Hubby comes home today from Las Vegas.  He called last night and was so TIRED.  It will be good to see him – Daniel and I have been lonely without him.

Today, my mom wants me to take her to her hair appointment to get a permanent.  It’s for 1 pm.  So, I’ll pick up Daniel at 12:30 and go over to her place.

That’s about all that’s on my mind right now.

Saturday Morning Musings!

October 18, 2008 at 10:46 am | Posted in Fractured Wrist, Las Vegas, Laundry, Out for Supper, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Doing my second load of laundry, but THAT is a GOOD thing because it’s my brand-new clothes!  All in Size LARGE!  Going to wear a new outfit tonight, we’re going out for dinner, to celebrate my birthday EARLY since hubby won’t be here on Wednesday.

Hubby leaves tomorrow for a conference in Las Vegas.  He’ll be back on Thursday.  Daniel is already missing him.  He doesn’t handle separations well, poor kid.  Luckily, though, Ron doesn’t travel much for work, maybe just once a year.

I’m not envious of him going to Vegas.  Some of the wives tag along with their hubbies (I would just have to pay airfare, the room would be with him, so it’s covered), but I’m not tempted to go to Vegas.  Gambling and booze?  No thanks.

We’ll miss him for the four days that he’s gone, though.

Wanted to try the new steak house in town but it’s STILL not open yet.  So we’re going to another restaurant about 15 minutes from here.  Hopefully the food will be good.

Got my haircut on Thursday, it’s very short!  Daniel got his cut yesterday, it’s short, too, but not as short as he first wanted.  I convinced him to NOT get it all shaved off LOL

Need to call school to set up parent-teacher conference Thursday or Friday.

Daniel should get the cast off his wrist Monday!

That’s all for now!

Thursday!

October 16, 2008 at 9:23 am | Posted in Book Sale, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Tonight begins the BOOK SALE at the library!  The cool thing is that Friends of the Library get to attend the opening sale tonight at 5 pm….and of course, I am a Friend!  Actually, I’m the secretary/treasurer for the group LOL

Things are nice and calm around home.  Ron had his second bible study class last night.  Daniel is caught up on his school homework from last week.  Thankfully, Ron never caught the stomach bug that Daniel and I had last week.  How does he rate?!?

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the book sale….gonna hit the COOK BOOK section.  I collect cookbooks, I’ve got over a dozen.  My hubby might say I don’t USE them often enough, though LOL

Tuesday Evening Musings

Just finished dinner.  Tuna melts (a spoonful of tuna salad on an English muffin, topped with a slice of cheddar) with fruit salad – or as hubby calls it fruit SOUP.  Pretty good dinner.  I made the fruit soup with strawberries, blueberries, peaches, raspberries, bananas, green grapes and cherries.  YUM!

Now the dishes are in the dishwasher, hubby is in his workshop, Daniel is planted in front of the television (yes, homework is finished for the night) and I’m planted in front of my computer.

It rained a bit earlier and is supposed to continue for the next day or so.

Getting my hair done on Thursday; Daniel gets his cut on Friday.

Made his appointment with the bone doctor, he goes in to see Dr. Woodbury on Monday (no school that day).  Hopefully he’ll get his cast off that day!

That’s all for now!

Doing laundry.

Have made tuna salad for dinner.  Going to plop some on an English muffin, top it with cheese (swiss or cheddar) and broil it in the oven.  Need some fruit for a salad, don’t you think?

Need to go through all my clothes that don’t fit.

Need to clean both bathrooms.  You never know just how dirty your toilet is under the rim until you HUG the toilet for a couple of hours…something about being in that position that shows you that you need to scrub.

Need to open the package that came last week…new clothes!  And need to get them laundered and hanging up.

Happy Monday!

Just got back into town after my doctor’s appointment with the endocrinologist.  He was very, very happy with me today!

My A1C was 5.7, down from 6.5!  I’ve lost 65 pounds since surgery!  My lipids are down!  I don’t have to go back to see him for a YEAR!

Needless to say, I’m a happy camper.

I think this is Sunday…

because we went to Mass this morning.  Otherwise I wouldn’t know what day it is LOL

Things are getting back to normal around here.  Thank God, my husband has NOT gotten the nasty stomach virus that Daniel and I had last week.  And, thank God Daniel and I are feeling MUCH better!  The last couple of weeks have been rather crazy and it’s good for things to be calm again.

Went to Walmart today.  Twice.  Forgot the milk so I had to go back.  What a ding-a-ling I am!

Daniel is up at the shop helping Ron – they’re working on shelves for the school library.

I’ve got a roast in the oven and laundry in the washer and a load in the dryer.

Would love to take a nap but there’s too much going on.

What day is this?!?

October 10, 2008 at 12:30 pm | Posted in Doctor Appointment, Emergency Room Visit, School! | Leave a comment

OKAY, I have to ask someone, it’s Friday the 10th of October.  At least it’s still October.

My little Daniel got SO sick on Monday…throwing up and diahrrea.  He couldn’t keep anything down or in.  We ended up calling our family doctor at home and she sent him some phenegran suppositories but he couldn’t keep them in either.  So we ended up in the ER for a couple of hours.  Thankfully they didn’t have to IV him, he needed some zofran and ice chips and was as good as new.  Thank God little ones heal quickly.

And then Wednesday he went back to school but by lunchtime was feeling punky again so we decided to go home.  On the way home, I had to make an emergency stop at the library for the bathroom and barely made it…..yeppers, I had it too.  Couldn’t stop throwing up or having diahrrea for 24 hours, so I ended up in the ER yesterday for 5 hours.  They gave me 2 bags of fluids (guess I was dehydrated?) plus one of potassium because it was very low, too.

Today Daniel wanted to go to school and I took him, came home and napped.  Am feeling a bit better, but still am not eating right.  Just crackers and flat Sprite and some Ramen noodles for lunch.

On Monday, my mom and I (OH, yes, she’s home from the hospital, thankfully her blockage got cleared out during a scope!) have appointments with our endocrinologists.  By then, things SHOULD BE back to NORMAL, whatever the heck normal is LOL
